Anyone know an average timeline for this port? I know they're hiring like crazy and some have gone through at lightspeed... CBP also should still
be doing the expedited hiring, which suggests CBPO and BPAs complete the process within 90 days, and no later than 120 days. I know it has sped up some, but don't think they're hitting this goal.

I completed the provisional clear paperwork, too, and was offered BPA in 2013. I declined due to my current job and the port they offered. They've still had me compete every step, but I think they'd probably use my background from then and update.

A couple more questions, at what point in the BI doe they decide to use the provisional clear, and if anyone has a similar experience to mine, where they offered you the position a few years before, then re-tested, I'd be interested in hearing about the process and what, if anything, was expedited.

    Thanks in advance!
I believe it should be once it's in the Security office. Mine has been there for a Month, then I was contacted to have my Polygraph scheduled.

I am also 16-5 for San Ysidro

        • Anyone know how we are supposed to dress on our EOD day? They told us dress to impress. Does that mean wear a suit?

          • Better to be overdressed day one and then just ask them when you are there how you should dress for the rest of the month.

            • As I recall, the memo that came out last August basically said that the future plans were to target hiring into "hard - to - fill" ports, target hiring into ports that could supply an adequate amount of work experience and training resources to give some new hires a broader, more expansive overall experience than what many ports have to offer., and target hiring after a more robust relocation and reassignment driven priority allows current people the option to fill some of the holes elsewhere within the agency.

It might actually be interesting to see it implemented. I'd say many, if not most, of the "hard - to - fill" locations are also locations that don't offer a lot of total experience to an Officer. I wonder which, HTF or experience takes priority when both collide. ...I'll guess HTF.

Beyond that, as a new hire, take a look at the size of the port your looking at. If it's a large, major player like Miami, JFK or Long Beach, those ports will probably almost always need people. Many of the tiny to small/medium ports may see much less for new street hires though.

              • San Ysidro

Anyone know how hard it is to leave a busy port if you're hired there and plan on trying to lateral after a few years? Do they make you stay for a minimum number of years, or not let you leave due to needing bodies at the hard to fill locations?

At the finishing stages with San Ysidro, and this is the port I'm talking about specifically.

                  • Hello everyone,

I would like to know if anyone has ever been medically disqualified for the cbpo position, and if so, what was the reason for the disqualification (prior surgeries, asthma, etc..) I would appreciate any replies. Be safe everyone.

They don't make you stay any specific amount of time. You can leave if you you find a transfer.good luck finding one. Laterals are usually denied in the border. There's the national reassignment but that's is also broken.

Ports like Miami, JFK or Long Beach are supposed to be filled up with nrob.lets see if that happens.
