They most likely work at federal plaza, we have offices there

        • Copy that. One last question before I cram up this forum... What's the retirement age for customs?

Those hired before 2008 face no mandatory retirement age.

Prior military have different retirement options than those of the standard hire as well

              • Being that I'm 26 yrs old, by the time I got on (if I do) I'd hit 57 before 20yrs... Would I be able to buy back my state Leo time?

If I were betting I'd bet that Buffalo and the North Country will see additional applications within the next few months as well.

There was just an internal announcement looking for laterals to Massena, Trout River and Champlain.

I'm guessing that those slots, if not filled by transfers, will ultimately be offered to the general public.

You can retire any any age with 25 years in or at 50 with a minimum of 20.

it looks like you'd be eligible at 50 with 24 years in...assuming you hire on soon.

There's no provision to buy back state or local time.

That's unfortunate.... I appreciate you taking the time out to answer my questions and the questions of others on here. Thank you.

Many years back I applied for NYSDOC. A college tour of Clinton Correctional quickly convinced me that corrections wasn't for me.

                          • Lol it's really not that bad...most people don't really know what to expect. Especially on a tour, but after a little while you get used to it. It's definitely been an experience. I could do it for 25yrs but I'm always looking for other opportunities to further my career.
