Sorry for being late on this. Yea, crazy right? She's been processed twice. As in she apply and made it to the PFT2 and failed. Then reapply, made it back to the PFT2 again and failed it again. Sounds crazy, but true story.

At my PFT2, one of the female applicants for BP was on her second go-around. She had failed the run just by mere seconds on her first attempt. She said that she had to reapply, but everything carried forward and it took about 3 months to get back to the PFT2 the second time. Thankfully, she passed this time.

      • I had my polygraph yesterday. I got inconclusive result on national security portion. I was super frustrated, because I know I told the truth. Plus I am married with fed. Agent for 8 years and get my background check every 5 years for his job. Anyway they are going to reschedule my polygraph. I still can not believe that. I took 2 polygraph before and passed both.

Don't stress about it. Plenty of people have taken it more than once. You will be fine

Okay so i just found out that i applied for the gs5 position but i meet the requirements for the gs7 position. I called MHC and they said i would have to apply under a new announcement but i dont want to do that as I believe i will be called soon.
My question is, once i get the call, can i provide human resources proof that i meet the requirements for the gs7 position or is re-applying my only option?

If MHC says to reapply, I'd reapply.

I'm guessing one or both of two things prevents you from getting a GS -07 based on your current application.

One, you never applied for consideration as a GS -07...
Two, you failed to qualify as a GS -07 at the time of the closing of the annoucement you applied under and you've since become qualified sometime after.

You could just hire on as a 5 and wait a year. Promotion forward yearly is pretty much a given in all but the most extreme circumstances.

You would lose your tentative selection for your current location and you'd go into the pool of applications for your new location where you may, or may not, depending on your test score and the hiring needs of the new location, receive a TSL for the new location.

If you manage to receive a TSL for the new location, all your current unexpired steps would transfer over to the new application.

Polygraphs do not determine if you are telling a lie or telling the truth. There is no such thing as a true "lie detector". Polygraphs are long and mentally draining. Make sure you eat a good meal and get plenty of sleep before your next polygraph. You need to go in well rested. Getting in "inconclusive" is not the same as failing. An "inconclusive" just means that there is not enough scoreable data.
