  • Dont know if anyone read my situation earlier in the posts but FYI, you can only test once in a 12 month period. So I was unable to try for a higher score this time around. All I could do was reactivate my score, and fill out the application again. Hope my 89 gets me a job this time around.

Yeah, but its just too bad you were 1 point away from a 90. It seems to 90-100 is all the same thing really. And then 80-89. What location were you trying to get?

      • Anyone else notice that no one answers the phone at the MHC anymore? You have to leave a message now.

I havent called that many times, but it seems like they must have answered the phone about half the times Ive called. The times they didnt I got a return phone call on the same day.

Hello Everyone, I'm new to the sight and was just wondering for those of you who already took the VBT if I can get a little insight on what to expect. Thanks

              • Feel bad, I told my cousin the next CBP applying phase was coming up and now it turns out there are no positions anywhere near the NYC metro areas.

Should have guessed as much given how they have folks like me stockpiled waiting for a EOD. Still, he sounds pretty gung ho about it, maybe he'll want to move to ND or something.

                • Yeah, I'm pretty bummed considering I feel like I've wasted the last eight months of my life trying to get a job at JFK or Newark. I even got a 100 on the written exam and my background cleared really quickly back in September, but since there are not positions I guess it was all a waste of time and effort.

Perhaps he might want to look at Maine or Virgina if he wants to stay on the coast? Just a suggestion.

Don't count on it. I'm almost positive a person signs an NDA after taking it.
                    "Officer, you are kinda hot."

                    "And you are kinda intoxicated."

I don't think "wasted" should be the right term to use, since you've only invested a few days to (take the test, do medical/fitness, VBT, Drugs), the rest has been waiting for EOD. Take a good look at my timeline and there are others like me as well. If you have a job at the moment ,you need not worry about "when" will you get the call, since you already passed everything you will get the call... But then again, if you think you have wasted your time put in a call to MHC and decline your TO. You can always decline and re-apply to another GEO location during an open period, which we have one right now...

I just declined my TO to LAX and applied for Florida (which was where I wanted to go in the first place), I never worked up the courage to decline and re-apply since I thought it would delay my process...after over a year of waiting, I think that was an invalid excuse... If you want the port you applied for, then you need to buck up like a good cowboy and take it as it comes (if it means waiting, then waiting it is)...

To the new dude with a question on disclosing about the VBT....
all you can get from the people that have taken it is to have a customer service attitude, if you have taken the CA PD VBT you are one step ahead of anyone else.... We all sign a Non Disclosure Agreement after taking the VBT, we can not tell you what to expect. Once again the search feature here is your best friend, and you should also try the FAQ's on the CBP website.
                      Good Luck to you

It may...but even in that case it really likely only means a person would be seeing a TO quicker. The BI, drug test, VBT and all the rest would likely plod along just the same as for anyone else.

So, in theory if I could change my GS to 5 and 7, I might not have to wait as long. I know I have read about the availability of overtime and such... anybody know if there is a lot of OT open to Eastern Texas locations? If I did lower the GS level I would accept I would have to do much more overtime than I would want to...

                        Thanks.

So how did everyone's VBT go? It was a very unique experience. I hope we all did good.

                            • I saw the list of locations for Florida, but where are you most likely to go if you select Florida - Other? I know Miami and Key West are not included since they have their own Geo category.

                              Orlando or Jacksonville?

They mentioned Tampa Bay, Port Everglades, Ft. Lauderdale, etc...(means all of Florida except Miami/Keys)

MIA is on its own Geo Code, and yes Orlando International is included in this announcement which is where I would like to end up.

If you have not received a TO for Texas yet, you can simply apply for a different GEO location under this announcement, you simply email MHC with you intentions and information and give them the new geo code you want. You don't have to re-apply as long as you have not gotten a TO. If I were you I would take one or two days to think over which location I would really be in and act on it ASAP. Go over the locations listed on this announcement and don't simply go with "critical needs" as your guiding point, you do have a 98 which would give you a better opportunity of getting you TO sooner than others.
