    Journeyman is GS12.

Yeah. 05-07-09-11-12. At the 12 level steps 02-10 come into play.

That's a very simplified explanation of the process but that's how it would work for most people.

        • Whats going on people, I'm more than halfway through the academy. Make sure you're working out and staying in shape. Theres guys and gals that cant do the 24 pushups and they only have one chance left to pass the 3rd fitness test in a month or so. The exams arent hard, just study and pay attention. Get ready for FLETC chicken and the G-Bar if you dont bring a car.

If anyone has questions about the whole process, feel free to PM me.

I'm pretty sure I'll need a hearing waiver for me to proceed after my med exam Tuesday. I'm pretty nervous since every waiver I've ever tried to get from the military never worked out for me, and this is the federal govt at play in my life again.

I had no issues from the medical exam itself but from what I listed in my medical history. I have to see two different specialists to clear them up at my own cost. It's just a precaution they are taking because I did not include paperwork on a very minor injury I had about 10 years ago while in the military. For the other one, I have to see a psychiatrist for a mental health evaluation because I checked yes for headaches

I doubt you could get a waiver for that, especially as a new hire. If they have concerns about your hearing from your medical, they would most likely send you to a hearing specialist for a re-test/follow up. If you happen to fail it again, you would most likely get a DQ and they would come to the conclusion that you are unable to perform the duties of a CBPO with a hearing impairment.

I just wouldn't go there with the thought that you will fail the test. Just do your best, good luck!

Would your failed polygraph results with CBP affect any applications as an ICE SA/IEA DO since it is under the Department of Homeland Security as well?
I really don't know, but this is not gonna stop me from applying and doing what I want to do for my country. Hopefully it doesn't affect me, if not then I'll reapply in 3 years. Good luck.

Do you do the push ups with the 4 inch block under your chest or is it regular push ups?

                        • I received my provisional clearance form but I've been thinking would it be crazy to just wait unti my background is fully completed. Just to be on safe side? Give me more time to save and get stronger for academy.

Has anyone heard of someone waiting ? What was the outcome ?

                              • So, I've been in the process for almost two years now. I took the poly on January/2015, met with the background investigator a month ago, and I received the provisional clear form last week. Does anyone have an idea of how much longer the process will be? When are the next academies?
