For me it was easier. I actually didn't pass the written in 2013. Waited a year and took the new one on the computer. Got a 90.

I haven't been offered anything yet. I am hoping I will be but I picked the wrong region and need to reapply.

I will stalk CASS for the next month to see if my background clears.

                  First I've heard of it.

Pay reform usually involves the agency looking to save money. See the Border Patrol pay reform as an example. An across the board LEAP reform for CBPOs would cost the agency $$$...at least as to how it works with other LEAP eligible positions. Although, it may make some sense if the idea is to work current people longer hours rather than to hire for thousands of additional people in the future.

Plus, LEAP is statutorily limited to certain positions. Congress would have to authorize such a change.

I don't see it. COPRA overtime both saves the agency money and it pads the pockets of those in the oligarchy that management and the union want to see profit. LEAP would disadvantage those currently advantaged and advantage those currently disadvantaged. Those in power would, for the most part, not support such a plan and those who would support it are, for the most part, those underrepresented and disenfranchised.

Where would effective impetus for such a change come from?

Based on this thread it seems like a lot of people selected more jobs located in the East coast.
I've worked in both ND and Montana.

Some people like the ports/localities....and some don't.

It's almost all very rural country. Urbanites will likely feel out of place. As far as the ports go, most are small, not all that significant, limited work hours and not all that busy. If you like lots of downtime, computer surfing, TV watching and propane grilling...much of the area fits that bill. If being busy and finding lots of meaningful seizures and cases matters a lot to you, it's probably a place to avoid...especially outside of Blaine and a handful of other locations.

I had my VBT on March 4th….a few days later around March 11th, I received an email asking if I was interested in moving forward and if I want to schedule my poly. I replied right away saying I was interested. I didn't get anything until the second week of April and had my poly around April 23rd.

I met with my Background Investigator this past weekend and an investigator is coming to meet with my boss today.

I also need to change my geographic location and am waiting for an announcement to post with JFK. I picked Northeast by accident so I am sure once I do that it will delay my process at some point.
