Also, everybody should NOT be training to simply pass the PFT2. At minimum, you should be training to pass the academy standards as they are a little harder (although still within very reasonable limits). If you are just squeaking by and passing the PFT2 times, you may have a miserable time at FLETC. Remember, even if you get the job after passing PFT2, there are still people that fail out of FLETC and all of this would have been for nothing.
This is true. Although a different agency, my FLETC class started out at 50. Sadly only 38 of us received badge and gun. Most were lost to PT due stress, weakness or injuries.

      • I already know I will be one to squeek by the pft2 testing, I applied back in 14-1 and was unsure if I wanted to move for CBP. I work in the bop and make about 65k a year with ot and differential. I litterally forgot I even applied since it was so long since VBT and SI. I am scheduled for my poly next week and know that I do wanna move now and am at the gym everyday working out. I will kick myself if I screw this up because of my ignorance.

My situps and pushups will be fine it's the running and sprint that scares me. How does everyone measure out there sprint to practice?

For anyone in the same boat as me, I know from experience that once at FLETC you can get in better shape or stay in shape easily. You go to class during the week and as long as you stay during the week days workingout and eating healthy, which can be done at the chow hall you will be set. I have seen guys get to FLETC then hit the bar or go out every weekend and fail out. FLETC gives you everything at your fingertips as long as you stay motivated.

If you can go find a running track and keep running around the track. Also for speed run on the hills. Try to sprint on the hill until you can not do it any more. My running time for 1.5 miles went down from 18 min. To 14.20 min. You can do it. But you have to push yourself to your limit.

          • Find a track and run 6 laps.
            Run 1 lap
            Walk 1 lap
Run 1 lap walk 1 lap
            Etc...
1.5 miles in 17 min is not hard. You can do it if you set your mind to it

Thank you. Do you know how long the process takes? I mean what is the average for the day you get the tentative letter and the day you start the academy.
