Thanks! Process has taken forever, so its bittersweet. I'm currently in MD, living in an area between both BWI and the seaport lol. Had my hopes up seeing other Central Eastern applicants having Baltimore, Dulles or Philly as choices. Theres plenty on the forum about JFK but not so much about Newark. Looking for any info that would help to decide between the two.

Oh gotcha. I'm looking for Newark becauSe I live in NJ and traveling to the city everyday will be very expensive will tolls and parking alone.

            Hey Steph, DBreezy

Parking is free at JFK for CBP but Steph is right you still have to pay for those tolls and traffic can be a nightmare when driving from NJ. I do know there is a ton of OT at JFK if that helps, not sure of Newark but can't imagine they wouldn't have any. As for transferring ports you will have to do at least 2 yrs to get passed your probation and then re apply for the new port when it's open on USJOBS just like you did originally to take the exam.

Oh DUH I should've known that idk why I said parking. Guess because it's one of the things I hate the most about NY in general. If you're going to live in NY I'd definitely do JFK. But if not think about all the traffic mainly and if you're willing to deal with that. Also my friend told me a coworker transferred to FL from Newark and it took her 3 years through a 3 way swap.

Yea, unfortunately it's based on openings to be able to transfer and i believe there is a wait list they follow.

I'm trying to look at timelines to figure when poly will be, but we're progressing so much faster than 13-1. Based on 14-1, maybe we'll take the poly in a couple months?

I have a friend at EWR. He works for customs. He pays $156 a year to park in from of the airport. The daily rate is $35 a day which means it's that $156 a year it's nothing. My friend pays the whole month at ones.

I'm not sure where you heard this but they just increased our parking rates this year and last I checked our union is in a heated battle with Port Authority to not owe back pay for the new rates if we paid the whole year for 2015.

Anyway for those of you guys who got called for Newark and are interested in JFK PM me when you finish academy, these tolls and parking are hurting me in the pocket.

Does anyone know how to change your initial geographic location? I placed one geographic location on my application but think I would like to change it to a different region. Is that possible? As far as my process, I have passed my VBT/ SI.
                                Thanks all!
