Thats what I thought! When my husband was there, 7 years ago, it was mandatory. I had just heard from someone that it wasn't the case anymore and I was surprised. Thank you!

I am CBP Agriculture Specialist applicant 13-2, I have completed both my qualifications and vbt/interview. Right now I am stuck on the medical clearance, as a result of a permanent left shoulder injury. The MHC requested additional information on my shoulder. Even those they requested me to see just a medical provider, I went to an orthopedic specialist. I am not able to fully raise my shoulder above my head, my doctor examine said even those with this limitation I am still able to fully perform my work without any problems. I know I am mostly likely not going to pass, as the final decision is up to some doctor who never seen you or interacted with you located some in the magical world of MHC. What is your guys opinion on this?Last edited by mizzou573; 11-08-2014, 07:40 PM.

Did your Dr give them the recommendation that you are capable of doing the job? If so, you should be ok. May take awhile to be cleared though. They also requested more info from me regarding a surgery when I was 4. Took 7 1/2 months but my medical was finally cleared.Geo- Florida

You have limited range of motion in your shoulder. Your doctor has cleared you based on his understanding of the position and now you are waiting to be cleared by an MHC doctor who is far more aware of what physical demands the position details than your personal physician.
My guess...you are unable to perform the minimal functions of a CBPAS. It sounds like you cannot easily do basic CBPAS functions like examining the overhead bins of an aircraft, gathering chrysalis from the ceilings of sea containers, climb rail cars or reaching into grain truck hoppers for inspections.
If you really can't function to perform the full scope of the job, do you really think it's best for either you or the agency to hire you?

My work will based out in Hawaii so no rail system here, I know for a fact I can do the work as I done this type of work for USDA Aphis. Its just up to the medical doctor at MHC those. There nothing you called you cant do it, the only time you can't perform a task is when tell yourself you cannot. I stay strong and fit, and exercise daily to be able to perform the duties of my job.Last edited by mizzou573; 11-08-2014, 09:09 PM.

The cbpas doesnt require fitness at all, i am strong but will not attempt to do monkey bars at all. I just have a limitation, and doctor saw the job description thing when they request for additional information. My doctor even test my physical capabilities before determining if i am medically capable or not. At least I didnt lie on my health, like many applicants do to get through the system. Then 10 years later they bring up their shoulder injury so they can do half of the work because they are already grandfathered in the system.Last edited by mizzou573; 11-08-2014, 09:32 PM.

Received THE CALL Tuesday morning.
PFT2 Nov 24 (will not be an issue what so ever)
EOD Dec 1 (NW border)
Academy Jan 9 - May 15.
Pretty stoked. I get the exact location I wanted.
Does anyone have any information on what we'll be doing when we EOD ( I imagine paperwork, training, shadowing ) and what kind of schedule they are going to put me on ( i.e. Mon - Fri 8-5? ).
Thanks for any info.
