Yes, the process is ridiculously long, and some steps don't make sense of how long they are.

Did you present those documents to them when you submitted your SF86?

    • Passed the poly! Pretty intense process, it was my first time taking one so I didn't really know what to expect. Just have to wait for the official OK after it gets reviewed again.

That is exactly what I thought. And it almost made me mad that he put us all in that situation...cause watching someone throw there career away over one pushup is a painful thing to see. I know that sounds harsh to say, like think of his feelings, but I'm just being honest.

And...yeah Jade, there was some slow runners out there, but we all passed!

As I said, thousands are applying for this job... Thousands, and to make it all the way to the end is to be lucky. And to throw away luck on one Damn push up? Screw his feelings, he deserved it. No sympathy. Why take up a slot? This process by all means is not short. It's taking an average of 9 months to get offered a job. And to fail all the way at that point? I mean what happened during pft1?
I hope everyone takes this as a warning. Do push ups every night, and every morning. Run 2 to 3 times a week. Do not throw away potential life changing career.

                  • I agree with Joyero, if you can't do 17 push ups in 1 minute then you for sure don't deserve this career! I have been waiting almost a year and by the time I ever get "the call" it will probably be close to a year and a half. I sure as hell am not going to cost myself a career over 1 push up! I just can't image getting that far and only being able to do 16 push ups! kind of pathetic, my pride and adrenaline would definitely not allow me to fail push ups or sit ups.

                    • My question is, how in the world did this guy pass the PFT1 if he couldn't even do 17 pushups? You need to do at least 17 in PFT1 from what I remember to get points. The foam support thing they put under you makes the push ups even easier too.

Thanks! I picked Central East Coast and I currently work for DHS/ICE. I am a bit surprised myself on how quick the process is moving.

In this email, I've attached the required documents that you have requested. I understand there was an issue regarding my U.S. citizenship status, and so I've attached both sides of my Birth Abroad sheet and just in case, both sides of my Birth Certificate.

I'm hoping that's all the documents you need, and if there's anything else that's required of me to send, please do not hesistate to contact me. I'm very excited to be nearing the final steps to my application process, and I look forward to becoming a CBP Officer. I strongly believe in the agency's mission, and my goal right now is to get hired and start investing in my retirement.

Thank you, and have a wonderful day.
