Watertown has every franchise you can think off when it comes to your usual Applebee's, tgi Fridays, buffalo wild wings, red lobster, olive garden etc. Also some nice steakhouses. There is lots of shopping to do on the western side of watertown as its being built up. Alex bay has lots of fishing spots and I did the uncle Sam's boat tour. Which is one hour ride through thousand Island. You can spend a day at boldt castle and it's a mostly family oriented place.
There is no nightlife I watertown nor Alex bay. Unless you consider small karaoke bars that I saw... I hear Syracuse has good clubs and Kingston ON as well. I will be visiting these places on my 30 day pre Academy.
Syracuse is a decent sized looking city. I honestly wouldn't mind driving an hour for the job. As for Kingston, ON, pardon my ignorance, but you can't live in Ontario, correct? It's outside of the country afterall.

Its a bit over an hour since you have to do an additional 30 miles after watertown. So gas will kill you. Kingston and Syracuse were just mentioned for areas where you can visit. And we weren't talking about living in Kingston.. We mentioned visiting. You can hop over to Canada and come back any day as a us citizen. Register for a Nexus access and boom. Montreal is also to jut visit.

        • Ok, just wanted to clarify, lol. I must've skimmed over the part when it came to visiting Canada.

And yeah, it seems awesome to easily cross into Canada and visit for the day.

I'm still hoping if I make it to the end, I get Champlain. At least Plattsburgh has a couple of colleges, which means you people.

Wow, I didn't know the requirements at academy are different. They're not too much different than the paper I got after my VBT/SI but still, didn't know that there's a difference. Thanks for the head's up!

Don't jinx yourself till they send you something. How did you feel when you did the VBT? I was the only one when I did my VBT, I was asked to leave the building for 40 minutes then come back for SI, but I had to travel 3 hours to get to my apt. I'll say a prayer for you \

Vegas, my guess would be something regarding your medical, it might need more info or more tests. Couple applicants had the same envelope and it was for medical but never know. Best of luck and keep us posted [/QUOTE]

I'm not sure if it would be medical. I am one of the applicants that needed to submit more information for my medical but it didn't come in any envelope. the request was in an email and came 4 1/2 months after taking my pft1/medical.

Plattsburgh has a mid-sized State University of NY campus and a smaller community college.
Watertown has a smaller community college.

If hanging out in college towns is more or less a priority...the ports of Massena and Ogdensburg are probably up towards the top of the list as well. Both ports are within 20-30 miles of each of SUNY Canton, SUNY Potsdam, Saint Lawrence University(Canton) and Clarkson University(Potsdam).

Truthfully though, if a rigorous "nightlife" is a consideration, all of northern NY will probably be a disappointment of one sort or another.

                        • One thing Watertown has is a huge military population nearby. Fort Drum probably rivals everything else in NNY in terms of putting a bunch 0f 18-30 year-olds into the local area.

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I've been wondering if it's unusual for it to take 5+ months since the date my info was sent to IA until getting a call for a poly. I contacted MHC and they told me my BI docs were sent to IA around March and I've yet to be called. I'm a 13-1 applicant in West Coast.

                            Thanks!

                            • Got a NOPA today. Appealing ASAP as it has been almost 5 years since THC use. Have no connection to it. Never bought, transport or handled it. Just stupid college parties and teenage times. Well wish me luck.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
