  • Hi guys,

I am new to this forum and have been reading the posts. I got the following e-mail yesterday too:

    Duty Location:

    CBP - West Coast

This notice is to inform you that you have been tentatively selected to begin the pre-employment process for the position of Customs and

Border Protection Officer, with the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

I applied not knowing too much about this position. Can anyone comment on whether this is a "good job", are people generally happy or miserable? How often do you get step/job grade increases, and what are promotion opportunities like. Seems like it could be fun...i'm a small guy so little unsure about the medical/fitness and or FLETC. I am currently living in Mass but applied for West Coast since I didn't want to go to go to a northern border where there are more moose than people!

Look forward to continue reading this forum.

      • I'm going to be in class 360 - my fiancee was in class 347 and just graduated on wednesday. I was there for the graduation so I got a little tour and glimpse of FLETC. The rooms aren't that bad at all.

If anyone is going to be in 360, PM me.

          • Cattanz,

I will be stationed in VT also, but Highgate Springs. I grew up there so I am used to the lifestyle. There is not much in or near Derby Line. From what I know they were hiring 5 officers, with I am guessing no more than 60 total, as it is similar to my port. If you have any other questions about the area just let me know.

                      • Congrats to those who got their TSL and welcome to the "exciting" waiting process.

Question: Where did it say in the announcement to choose the PFT2? I don't remember anything about that. Please somebody tell me. Thnx.
