    • Yes, they give you that day to decide. I knew ahead of time exactly what I wanted if offered so I chose right then and there.

I'm not surprised at the mass hirings. In many locations there is a desperate need for officers.

I've seen pictures of Alex Bay, and yeah, I see some dilapidated looking castles/mansions, I'm not sure how life is over there. Seems very quiet.

Also, for the POEs in the NE, are their any inside an airport?
Alex bay is the thousand islands of Ny.. Lots of tourists come there.. The summer months will be a blast and real quite in the winter.

The academy will probably be extremely stressful being that some of us will be away from our spouse and kids and trying to get things done while half way across the country. It will all be worth it in the long run.
Technically no you don't get any time off, BUT you can request time off before you start post academy training, they will just charge your annual leave.

Fun note. One of the guys left last week for the academy and he called us saying it's so hot and humid and that he couldn't finish the mile and a half because he wasn't acclimated yet. He's in pretty good shape (12:05 time) so that was surprising.
Yeah I pumped out a ton of VLC's today about 14 of them. And there are 7 in our class total. 3 women 4 men. The women have a week jump on us so we are playing catch up. You're class 359 correct?

                  They will work with you.
I am driving to fletc and found out today they will pay mileage within an 8 hour period.
I may speed during those 8 hours. Lol

                  • Anyone know if the pft1 test was changed from the step test to a 1.5 mile run? I know it said it was projected to change in July 2014. And if it did change is it the same time limit at pft 2?

                    • Recent academy grad here if anyone has any questions regarding the academy shoot me a pm. A few things to note for anyone heading down to glynco soon, I had a blast down there it was a relief seeing trainees walk around fletc with alcohol on hand I was used to artesia where that was a big no-no. We had two failures for our final PT test but they were give a second chance and passed apparently our class is the first to be afforded that opportunity. Trainees no longer have to wear body armor throughout the duration of the academy only during firearms and tactics, the plus side for that is you get to wear the cool looking outer carrier another first from our class although I believe the class after us deserves the credit for fighting for that. My biggest regret was not having a car while I was down there but it was good thing being friends with those who did. All in all it was a fun experience enjoy your time out there but try not to party too much. And if you have someone waiting for you at home be smart about who you associate yourself with. Stay safe!
