Excellent idea. I'd love you to see what the board thinks of LEOSA, especially as it relates to federal law enforcement.

      wow...

I'm going to have to figure out when/how to tell my employer then. I work in a small firm and I am fairly sure my supervisor (the owner) is not going to take my resignation easily. His goal was to have me take over the local office and he was going to oversee an office outside the U.S. I was hoping to have to tell him after receiving the call.

I would hope this (interviewing my office) is right near the end stages because I don't want to give him a reason to fire me. My boss should be professional about it but then you never know...

Did you have any medical waivers too? You don't wanna go through that hell again either. They actually started me five days earlier because my waiver was expiring.

That is exactly what I'm worried about. I had to get a letter for my LASIK and one for an ankle injury. That whole process took about 3 months. I'm hoping I can avoid that whole mess of having to be re-examined for the same thing I already received a clearance for. It's really frustrating since the reason my medical expired is because they are taking so long with my background.

I'm not exactly sure what your plan was, but it sounds like your boss is going to get in a tizzy either way. The BI can start at anytime; most of the time it starts after the medical and physical, but it can vary on a lot of things. People have had it start up at the beginning, at the end, in the middle...there is no linear process to your application.
          "Officer, you are kinda hot."

          "And you are kinda intoxicated."

Are those 'gift days' regular holiday days off, or training holidays where you're expected to remain on base during training hours?

4-day weekends mean not all that much if you need to stay on base until 1630 Friday night, and you've plans to go somewhere. Unless you've built up AL to burn.

            • Hello everyone.
I've skimmed through the posts and am curious to know how anyone that is processing for Buffalo, NY is doing...
I was called for the BI 3 weeks ago and the investigator met with me and everyone from the forms that I filled out on e-QIP.
Is anyone else in the same spot that I am?
              Thanks.

I was in almost the same situation. Not branch to manage, but I was afraid my boss would blow her lid. I just explained it and said it was somthing I was looking into but wasn't sure I'd take. (Which was crap, but I didn't really want to get fired in April.) After the interviews the whole damn office knew I was leaving. So its been really odd since. But hey at least I've still got a job.

Not an applicant friendly system no doubt. But whatcha gonna do?

                  • Who was it who spread the (false) rumor that there would be another vacancy announcement for CBPO on USAjobs 10/6/2008 (i.e. today)? And why? I've been getting really bummed waiting for another opening at Newark or JFK after they offered me a position way the hell out in upstate New York, and much to my dismay there was no opening today as stated. I called the MHC and they said something vague about there being another in November.

                    • sdodd. I'm in the same boat waiting for JFK/Newark to open up. Something got lost in translation on my app and I ended up with New York other as my geo pref.

                      • Waiting for New York City and JFK Airport, NY as well....fingers have been crossed since I took the written test. So far I haven't heard any news relating to any openings but I'll keep hoping.

                          • Med/Fit scheduled for Wednesday. Kinda seems like it's truckin' along...I had knee surgery in high school...do I need to bring records of that, or do past injuries not qualify as "previous conditions"? I guess I think of previous conditions as things like diabetes, cancer, stuff like that

Did you watch the cd that came with your TO packet? That should give you a really good idea on how the test is.
