Stay away from freecreditreport.com ... or be advised they do charge you $13.95 a month! It will come up under cic triple advantage on your statement...the better business bureau receives numerous complaints about them daily. I recommend using another credit check to see if CBP is pulling up your history.
Eh.. why would you give them a credit card number if you thought it was free?

By the way, I'm selling some ocean front property in Arizona, if anyone is interested PM me.

Yes they do take a class photo the first day. The reason they want you looking good is because this is the academy for a profession. They don't want people coming to work wearing jeans and a t-shirt. Most people understand that when you go to work you should dress nicely, but for those who don't, they make sure to advise everyone of the proper attire.
But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object, evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new guards for their future security.

          • Your BI can be done by contractors or federal employees. The only way to tell the difference is the "contractor" written on the creds. The major contracted companies are USIS, Kroll, and Omnisec. The BI can also be an employee or contractor of any of the major companies. Normally the BI don't try to hide the fact they are contractors and will say the were retained (many people miss this) to perform the investigation rather than they "work for" or they "are with".

            • I got a letter in the mail saying that my medical and fitness has expired, and that I will have to do it all again. I've read here that some people are able to get waivers if nothing has changed.

Supposedly my BI is close to finishing, (at least that's what I keep telling myself). So, I'm afraid that my BI will clear, and then I'll have to take another couple months to go trough the whole medical process. Which was a pain before since I had to have a separate exam for my Lasik surgery and an ankle injury.

Does anyone have any experience or suggestions with this type of situation?

              Thanks.

                • Normally all that's required is a certification that nothing has changed.

They come to your current place of employment to do the BI? Why not have you go to them? It seems to me that your current employer might be suspicious if someone from DHS is coming in to interview you...

Makes it easier to interview your boss and coworkers. Same thing if they interview you at home, either before or after talking to you, they will walk up and down the street knocking on doors.

Typically people tell their supervisors/co-workers about the BI coming to work before he actually comes. Makes it less of a surprise.
