Awesome! Did you submit your EQIP and Fingerprint cards yet? Poly won't come until after your BI paperwork is submitted. PT2, from what I understand is the final step after Poly, drug test, and BI clear.

    • not yet. I guess they will send me further directions on what is next. Or how how does the equip goes? you have to be instructed before you do so right?

From what I was told yes, you will get a separate email detailing the BI process and submission.

I'm also a female so it isn't necessarily true that females process faster than males. I have been in this process two years now. I think it has a lot to do with geo and scores.

Do some research on the areas surrounding the ports

Check out the night life/social scene/housing see if you'd like it. How the neighborhoods are etc.

                      Pricing of apartments/housing etc

                      Spend all day researching

                          My personal preference would be:
                          Blaine
                          Sumas
                          Pembina
                          Dunseith
                          Sweetgrass
                          Raymond
                          Portal

In terms of port size, Blaine is by far the largest (275 officers or so). Pembina is a distant second at roughly 125 officers. Sumas, Portal and Sweetgrass are all roughly the same size 60-65 officers. Raymond and Dunseith are around 20 Officer ports.
Blaine and Sumas have the advantage of being somewhat near cities and large towns. Bellingham, WA (Pop. 80K) is 30miles south of Blaine and 45 miles southwest of Sumas. Seattle is two hours south of both ports; Vancouver, BC is 90 minutes or so northwest of both ports. Blaine also has the advantage of being a fairly large and major port. Opportunities and advantages exist there that may not exist in the other locations.

Pembina is roughly 75 miles north of Grand Forks, ND and 75 miles south of Winnipeg, MB. Outside of that it’s pretty much all rural. There is lots of small towns/hamlets and country living. Expect to travel to Grand Forks a lot for most of your basic needs.

Sweetgrass is pretty much within site of the Rocky Mountains. It’s rural, small towns/hamlets, miles and hours away from anything approaching a city.

Dunseith, Raymond and Portal are also very, very rural. They are hours away from large towns/small cities. Also, the oil boom in the area has pretty much snatched up ever shack with in miles so expect very limited and expensive housing anywhere nearby.

If you’re an urbanite who likes cities and wants to be busy and work OT, go Blaine. Sumas is smaller, less busy, less OT and still fairly close by to Blaine.

The others best fit country folk and the “eight and gate” crowd. If you like fishing, hunting snowmobiling, horseback riding and the like and you want a more laidback place with little OT, Dunseith Raymond fit the bill…if you can find decent housing at an affordable price nearby. Pembina and Sweetgrass still offer rural life, but they also offer a bit more work and OT potential.

Portal is Portal and has long had “issues”. I wouldn’t suggest anyone go there, especially non-locals.
