    • LEAP is a type of overtime.

"Congress enacted the Law Enforcement Availability Pay Act of 1994 (the LEAP Act) (codified at, inter alia, 5 U.S.C. §§ 5542(d) & 5545a), in order to establish a uniform system of compensation for the excessive and unusual hours worked by Federal criminal investigators. [n1] See Bradley v. United States, 42 Fed. Cl. 333, 334-35 (1998). Under the LEAP Act, eligible investigators receive a 25 percent increase in their base pay (including locality pay) to compensate for: (1) all on-call time; (2) all unscheduled overtime; and (3) the first two hours of scheduled overtime during a day in the investigator's workweek."

      Emphasis mine.

            • Well i just completed the vbt/si and i must confess it wasn't that complicated or worrisome in anyway. I guess maybe i adequately prepared for it. for instnace i recorded myself speaking infront of a tv, reviewed my responses and re-recorded.
Just calm down and you will be fine. Most of the scenes are pretty self-explanatory and you should be able to respond without hesitation. goodluck to everyone yet to do it. Am still yet to get a final determination from mineapolis though. I just believe by faith that i made it. amen

              • My problem is that I don't have a manly voice. In the past, I would get people on the phone thinking I was a woman. Now I try to deepen my voice, lol.

They're going to review the video and listen to me sounding like a woman.

                • Just finished my VBT/SI.

I don't know how to feel though. I went in, was the first one of the day. Did the VBT and I felt I did very solid. Like others have said, it's pretty straight forward and you really should not worry much. However, I did NOT have a SI following it. I sat in the lobby with several other people while they reviewed my recording and an officer walked out, escorted me and in the hallway just asked what I did for a living and where I lived. He then mentioned I should receive results within 2 to 4 weeks and we went our separate ways. I hope that doesn't mean I didn't pass.

I know others have mentioned that not everyone gets to do a SI, but I d k if it's the end of the road for me.

                  • just speak loud enough whe the scene demands authoritative voice. Make sure your body language will speak for you positiviely (manly) lol. Let them know ahead that that's ur normal voice so they wont misinterprete it to mean you are timid. @izz just hold on tight, every place is different. You will be fine

                    • Just took my poly this morning in Buffalo. I've taken two others with different departments. They never do get easier do they? Took a while and the guy said for the most part that everything looked ok but at the end he said there was one questions that was absolutely off the chart. It was one about contact with foregin people intending to do harm to the US. Something roughly like that, anyways I almost started laughing. He said I absolutely killed that one which is ridiculous. He gave me time to come clean about what's on my mind or what may be worrying me about it hence why it is being triggered. I couldn't believe it. That is one question that I didn't think twice about. I am not a spy but a recent college grad that is working as a cell phone salesman to get by lol. Anyways results always get sent to Washington where they look over it so we shall see.

                      • I see alot of applicants everyday taking their VBT/SI at SFO. Good luck to all of them, SFO is looking to hire around 40-50 applicants.

                        • Does anyone have any info on the west coast region? What kind of numbers needed are we looking at for seaport, airports, and border crossings in this region? Likewise, any idea why San Diego and it's seaport, airport, and local POEs aren't listed in the west coast region (only southwest listed these but that makes it hard since you can't apply to both regions, even though someone who applied o wet coast could obviously live and work in the San Diego Areas). Thank you for replies.

                          • San Diego is under South West region and Spanish is a must for that GEO. West coast will be hiring a lot of applicants for ports such as SFO, LAX, Las Vegas, and Long Beach.

                            • Peacemaker, hate to break this news to you, but as a new CBPO you have zero chance of getting Downtown San Diego, the SD Airport or SD Seaport; however, if you apply for the SWB, there is a good chance of getting San Ysidro, Tecate or maybe (unlikely) Otay Mesa cargo.
