  • My vbt / SI is tomorrow morning in Houston. I feel somewhat prepared by reading from this forum. Any last minute advice on the vbt?

      Training where?
I was speaking about the training at FLETC. You can do a search, it has been brought up many, many times.

If you are moderately fit, you should be a-ok.

Yes I was talking about FLECT; I will search. Thanks

        • I may be off, but it seems like the average retirement pay is $34,000 a year. That's not accounting tsp. Of course contributing something like 5% of your monthly salary and the government matching it does add up by the time you retire.

Also, investing in stocks or mutual funds adds up, too.

But living off $2,000 a month without tsp or any other investment funds is not a lot of money. You also have to account for inflation, too.

          • The substantial cuts/proposed cuts to OT agency-wide are real, well documented and in the public domain.

            A few examples...

"Also of concern to NTEU in the FY 2013 budget request is the decrease of $21 million in funding for inspectional overtime at the air, land and sea ports of entry"

            http://www.nteu.org/UnionOffice/Legi...ny.aspx?ID=196

"Of particular concern to NTEU in the FY 2012 budget request, is the decrease of $20

million in funding for inspectional overtime at the air, land and sea ports of entry."

            http://www.cbpunion.org/Documents/Te...FY12Budget.pdf

"The OFO inspectional overtime budget has decreased by over 8.2 percent from FY 2008 through FY 2013. The FY 2010 upgrade of journeyman officers to the GS-12 level further reduces the actual number of available CBPO hours that can be purchased with overtime by more than 20 percent. The decreased overtime funds and the increased overtime rate, due to salary growth, combine for a 30-percent net reduction of available overtime hours."

              • I have a question in regards to the PFT2. I am scheduled to take my PFT2 on May 15 at FLETC and was wondering if the testers stop you once you meet the minimum for the push-ups and sits ups. If not is there an advantage for maxing them both out?

                  • You'll be awaiting a while. The first real CBPO "6C" retirement will be sometime in 2028.

Funny how a GS-13 ICE Agent in Houston making 120K who likely clears roughy 25K(or more) in LEAP(basically overtime) feels that people should be able to live on base pay.

You must have quite the bank account set up with all that money you haven't been spending over the years.

                          • Taking my VBT/SI tomorrow morning in Miami, I'm a bit nervous about it. I consider it the last big hurdle for me since I've past polygraphs in the past and my background is clean.
