I'm trying to figure out how fast/slow my background investigation is going to go I currently work for Department of Homeland security as a contractor armed officer, and have a MBI security clearence with them and I also have an active DOD top secret clearence. Will that help me speed up?

No you're right Soup. I just had mine today and I got 16 as well. I can't remember but they count the middle line when you go by it as well. Something like that.

              • You can check the standards, there was an attachment that showed the ranges for points you would receive for each section. Should have been in the email itself, probably on the website as well. 9 seems pretty good though!

I did mine last year there and it seems like I got 9 or so but then I just did it again this past month in West Seneca and I believe I got 17...idk if they didn't count the center line last year and now they do, who knows.

Ya it's weird. She told me you had to get over 10 line touches or something to pass and I remember thinking, man I better be booking it but once I got going she wasn't just counting the end line touches.

Lizzy, I am not aware of DHS having armed guards direct hire. YOU may work for a contract security company, that has a government contract at a GSA facility, which in your case is a DHS building. Do you see the difference in explanation? Those kind of misgivings can cost a perks a job.

As for you having other security clearances, they don't carry over. They help you complete the paperwork faster, I would hope you answered all questions the same on all the different background packets.

Good luck everyone, there are many locations short people.

                          Thats correct dhs contractor..
                          Thanks for the info!

No. My mistake. I believe it was 9 so I think you're fine. I was just kind of generalizing. Didn't mean to worry you.
