  • So I have a similiar time frame as above, GEO Midwest and NOR 94. I got an automated call to schedule my medical and I haven't even taken my VBT yet (scheduled for later this month). Can this be a sign of a quick hiring process?

    • Everyone's timeline will be different. Some guys I talked to were 1 year, some were three years. My polygraph administrator said he has had one guy's stuff for 6 years...I could not imagine waiting that long. Keep your job and just be patient.

I just got my TSL on 12/12/13 (86 on exam)...Nothing else yet..I want the JFK location but I noticed that it doesn't fall in the Northeast location...I selected Northeast because New York was in the description. It looks like there's no way to change to Central East..I'm assuming this mistake will set me back some way or the other.

All depends on what you make out of the job. If you are looking for a plain job with good benefits and small lateral movement then NYPD is for you, but if your looking to move out and branch yourself within the federal government then CBP all the way. Also understand that as a NYPD your jurisdiction is limited to a certain area. With CBP you have no limitation seeing that the federal government is over the state LEO .Personally I'll start the process with NYPD and get all the experiences I can. It might take CBP a while to process you and why not get the money and experience while you can.

The answer is no. If you qualified for a level 7 they have I'll put you at that level. From my understanding you only need some work experience and a high school education to be considered for a level 5.
Those with collage education with a good GPA or prior work experience in Leo can get a level 7.
