It appears to me that you meet the GS-05 minimum with a combination of work experience and education.

You will have until the closing date of the announcement that you apply under to gather applicable qualifying experience/education, so it's possible that you may be able to qualfy on education or experience alone...or qualify for a GS-07...depending on what you accomplish qual-wise between now and then.

    • Thanks for the info, i appreciate it.

Also, i know it's been asked before but do you have a better chance if you're open to locations?

For example, I live near San Diego but I'm willing to relocate to anywhere in CA,AZ,or TX.

I'm also speak fluent Spanish already.

      thanks in advance

You apply to regions... There is no applying to specific ports or states. The SWB region will cover what you just implied... And you could luck and get San ysidro and stay in San Diego...

                • HI Everyone so I took the polygraph last Tuesday and it was not to bad besides all the interrogations lol. I was there for about 6 hours and in the end he started accusing me of not telling the truth on one question on the suitability portion of the test. I explained to him I told the truth but he continued for about 10-15 minutes trying to get me to say something. He told me he would send it to QC and I may have to retest.

                  • Hey ladies/Gents,

I'm new to this blog so I do apologize for any repetition I might be doing here, I took the CBP Exam 9/13' and I got my my letter of passing score on 10/13 with a 87%. I was hoping to find out if this score is good or not in comparison to the "national Average"? Also if there is a phone number of where I may be able to call to find out if my paper work was received and If I was in the active pool of people being considered for possible selection to continue the process. I read on the CBP website (if i recall correctly) that its not just the score that places you in a slot of where they pick and choose, supposedly CBP has 5 brackets where the place possible candidates. They take into account your experience plus your score and then place you in one of these 5 brackets. Something similar to:
                    Extremely qualified - top bracket
                    Outstandingly qualified 2nd bracket
                    Very qualified 3rd bracket
                    well qualified 4th bracket
                    he/she qualifies 5th bracket

this being said, How can one find out where you stand in line or in which bracket have you been placed? Thank you again and the best of luck to everyone in their pursuits.

People who took the VBT cannot explain or tell you what the test is about. Just be yourself and follow their instructions.
