  • Hello people, I am not familiar with federal law enforcement and the process that will. I am currently doing research on the process and steps but I can not seem to find the wait time?

On passing the examination, what is the 'average' waiting time to get an offer for hire? Will it be passing with new bills being passed?

    *Edit*

Currently does anyone know the number of CBPO? Has anything changed since May, more officers?

    Thanks!

Think of it as an easier version of the SATs. If math is not your strong suit I suggest u study the manual on the CBP website. Keep doing the practice test as if you're acutally at the test location which is 30 min per section i believe. Depending on how badly you want to pass the test you can look to the internet for help if the manual isnt enough. Hope this helps.

The current average wait is probably somewhere between one and three years. Some outliers get hired sooner, some years later.

The staffing model for CBPOs currently rests at 21,775 Officers.

        • Thanks Merlin.

              • Hi guys, i have a quick question. I applied to this position (still haven't taken the test or received a test date) and when i applied, i applied under the 3 year general experience requirement as opposed to a college degree or specialized experience.

Only problem is, i don't have 3 years of general experience, i have about 2 years at this point. I still applied though because i figured that by the time i get called i'll have the 3 year general experience requirement. Is this logical thinking or was i supposed to have the 3 year gen exp requirement BEFORE taking the test?

Thanks in advance for your response.

I'm sorry if this seems like a silly question but i'm just a little confused. Thanks ALOT!

So mine is Aug. 28th... I've been thinking about changing it because it's somewhat quick and the exam looks like you need to prepare well for it. I don't know if I have the time to prepare how I want to. Also, for those who are taking the test are you willing to move hours away from home?... I'm having a dilemma and it's tough. In my opinion, CBPOs should be payed more because of the move and all the traveling they have to do if they have to move away from home.
I only studied the night before and got a good score. BUT I'm an excellent test taker and admit that if I had put more time into studying I would have definitely gotten a more competitive score.

When I applied, the only options were the SW or the NW, so I was obviously willing to move far from home for this job. If you want to stay close to home, then take advantage of the nationwide hiring to choose your local region. But if you choose to move for the job, I wouldn't bother complaining about the moving expenses, because they will be more than made up for within a few years with CBP.

When you were filling out the application did you state that you already had three years of general experience? When I filled out the application it asked if I had my 4-year degree. Since I didn't at the time I answered it "no"; it followed up with a question about whether or not I would have it within nine months of the application's closing date. I was able to answer that question "yes", so they allowed me to submit my application for GS-5.

If you said you already had three years at the time of the application but you don't, then your application might be rejected regardless of how soon you will have three years experience.
