Why...do as I do.

Carry a few phone numbers with you...a couple of numbers for Canada Customs/Immigration. and a couple of numbers for CBP (preferably at a larger port...at the very least a different port)

Then, no matter who calls, explain to them that you're not Canada...or you're at a small, insignificant outport and they'd be best answered elsewhere at the number you give them.

This way you can get by with only answering the very easiest questions and only when you feel the urge to do so.

I am at Fleatec right know. Just passed my final peb. I was not a good runner when I started. I had to go after school to the running trails to practice my breathing and running pace. I knocked nearly four min. off of my first run time. Get in shape before you come here! This place sucks if you are out of shape.

Hey just wanted to let everyone in Michigan know that T.O.'s are currently going out. I called MHC to change my address, and the lady told me I was pre-selected and I will be receiving my T.O. on Sept 24th.

Does anyone know how long it will be before I get a call. I passed the written exam middle of July 08....and still nothing yet.

I'm in the system already (work for homeland security that is) so have my BI cleared. I'd be willing to travel to any of the critical hiring spots, however, when you call the hiring department, they do not tell you how many new cbp officers each port is hiring....and you can only apply for one port now....

Any suggestions would be helpful....

Sorry but just because you're in the "system" already doesn't mean you'll get a call sooner than anybody else. Unless you are a current BPA and your last BI was done less than a year ago, you are not cleared and will have to go through another BI. You need to go through the steps just like everyone else. First a T.O. then medical/fitness, drug, VBT, and BI... That's how it works. Critical needs doesn't mean you'll get a call sooner either, just means that there are more opportunities (say you got a 90 on your written, then only the 10 or 15 people that scored higher than you get TO's before you do... and since they need more people it's your turn).....

Truthfully, I doubt there's anyone on this board who could accurately field a question like this. I doubt there's all that many within CBP who could. Very few people have access to more than an inkling of the true numbers of applicants for any given geographical area or the spread of test scores within an area.

Travel expenses

For those of you who are at or who have gone to FLETC.... How are the travel arrangements made?

I would like to take my P.O.V. but would the costs of a drive from Michigan to Georgia then be at my expense or does Uncle Sugar pay mileage in lieu of a plane ticket?
