  • Thanks for the reply TripleD (I like the name btw). I figured that was the case, I was just making sure. I was actually leaning towards El Paso myself, but I'd like to hear your argument as to why you favor El Paso over the Rio Grande Valley.

      • Got somewhat of good news. After being processed through TSA in Florida, I spoke with the TSA agent for a little and he told me that they are about to go on a hiring frenzy. This is just the proof that Homeland security is holding to their promise in attempting to increase the agency's numbers in employees.

          • This process is very confusing and frustrating at times. I have sat with no movement for my 2011 SWB application waiting on a poly since last July. Tuesday I finally get that almost forgotten about call to schedule a poly... great finally movement. then the next morning I received a TSL for the SE region from my application in 2012.
From nothing in about 10 months to 2 major things within 24 hours... Anyone know how long the medical and fitness test are good for as far as transferring over? They were completed n March or April of last year i think. It would be great if i can get through the poly the BI and jump complete into TSU for SE without doing the medical and pft 1 again. Cass only shows the SI and drug test complete saying the medical is under review from previous application.

Last time I remember the test are good for up to 3 years. So if you tested last year your score should still be good.

              • For the medical portion...the results are good for one year. At the end of that year they will send you a recert form that basically says that nothing has changed and major injuries or illness. If nothing changed you should be good for another year. Glad to see you get your tsl for SE...hopefully with the potential onslaught of job openings you wont wait for too long.

If it was a choice between progresso or el paso....i might be inclined to go progresso as its close enouh to mcallen and the other big cities around there...although id like laredo even more if those were the only three choices. Still CA for absolute first choice. And glad to a shred of good news regarding hiring, im kinda looking foward to next week and month for news.

I hope this is not the case due to ports being ridiculously undermanned. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you guys.
I think at this point we are all Pros at waiting, so a bit longer won't kill us. Chasing the dream is never easy, but we're almost there. I appreciate your support. Thank you kindly.

                          Irving,

I live in America's finest city , so I'm no expert on South TX. However, from first hand accounts El Paso isn't a bad choice. Ft. Bliss and the University are good for the local economy and bring a little diversity. El Paso is consistently among the safest large cities in the nation, which is ironic due to the fact it sits across from Juarez. Also working on the assumption you live in the Dallas/Ft Worth area, it would less of an adjustment to live in a larger city. More people=more amenities and things to do. Rio Grande Valley isn't all bad either. Being closer to Corpus and the Gulf would be nice.

                          Cheers
