Payniel, any updates for us? I appreciate you keeping us informed.
No movement, the CR is still in the senate, and was scheduled to be debated and voted on today. Im currently watching CSPAN while doing my monthly banking, and see no movement on it. Amendments are being argued..blah.

The CR soo far helps most of us out, and will allow DHS to continue hiring in both Border Patrol and CBPO positions. Its just going to be when all this passed and how the administration and DHS staff interpret the funding.

        • Had my poly recently and it was rough to say the least... Did not conceal anything and was told I was hiding something and was told I failed both exams I was given... However, they did not mention this until the end of the exam and was utilizing this as a post forensic interviewing tactic to illicit admissions from me. However, I stuck to my truthful story and did not change my answers to any of the relevant questions. The examiner told me that he would forward my results to QC and notify me if any additional testing would be needed... Time will tell once I get the official NOR letter. Anyone here pass QC after being told by the examiner they failed? Also, anyone who has experience in the appeal process for this let me know. Thanks.

Ya I just recently got one as well. Another hurdle in my path to be a CBPO. Its ok Im going to make it past this. Just wondering if everybody gets the option of a NOPA. I thought I've read that some just get booted with no chance to fight it. If thats true then the way i see it is the people that get a NOPA are given that option bc if they bring a strong case to stay then they can make it past this. Or maybe that's just what I'm hoping. Either way I have faith I'll make it past this.

CR still has to repass the house since it got amended but its highly likely. Still havent gotten to look at he final bill to see what its got.

The CR, and correct me if I'm wrong payniel, stands for Continuing Resolution and though it's not a final fix for the budget issues going on, it is a temporary hold over which should allow for government agencies to continue operating and to keep up with hiring needs so there is not a government shut down at the end of the month.

Nope, youre pretty much correct. The CR is the second half of the Fiscal 2013 federal budget, it is not what you're hearing about on the news(that is the FY2014 budget most likely). This bill, so far as Ive looked should allow DoD, DHS, and a slew of other agencies some leeway in how the sequester cuts are to be made. It opens up old unused and unwanted accounts that were just holding money over. For Instance, it takes the 500 million that was allotted for Space Shuttle Maintenance( for a shuttle program that doesnt exist) and spreads that money around a bit.

Specifically for DHS, it actually establishes a new baseline operating budget(rather than saying " last years"). For CBP the new budget entail 8.2 billion(for salaries and expenses), but that about it besides stating the overtime figures, etc. It does state that 21,370 border patrol agents are required at a min.

How the passage of this will effect our hopeful jobs is not yet seen, at least by me.I know that these budgets will allow a lot of flexibility, but we are going to have to see how the agency managers see this. The previous language from the house bill that required the agency to keep staffing levels and even backfill has been struck from the bill as the senate created actual budget levels.

Edit: The house just passed the amendments which means the funding is there. I did also get to reading some if a bit more, if DHS decides to keep hiring it seems FLETC has the funding for it.

Edit 2: After reading some others intepretations of the bill, the baseline budgets created for CBP allow for the keeping of current staffing levels, and actually is a slight increase in the amount of funding allowed over the previous years.
