  • Hello all! Long time lurker here. First, I would like to thank everyone who posts and answers questions. It helps more than you know.

I had to get PRK for my eyes because I was pretty darn blind. 6.25 in my left eye with astigmatism and 5.75 in my right. Now I can see 20/15. I have had two polygraphs and still waiting for my results. Some questions. How quick was the turn-around when your medical cleared for them to begin your BI? Also, does your paperwork clear with your BI? My timeline is as follows:

I think having at least 2 is more the norm now. Whether the examiner says you pass or fail them QC has the final say when they review the tapes. Most times from what I have read here and from my own experience they ask you to come back for a much shorter sessions just to go over a few things.

how long does the polygraph usually last?
I heard afterwards they try to intimidate you by calling you a liar, how are you suppose to respond to being a call liar? What is the correct way? thanks.

Read through the previous 200 pages and you'll come across times that vary from id say 4 hours to 11. If you tell the truth you have nothing to worry about. All of your answers can be found by doing a bit of reasearch in this thread.

My response was that I was puzzled because I was telling her everything I could possibly remember, and I actually went over what I was thinking with her. From what Ive learned about the Poly on sites here and after having sat through another watered down version, is that it is a "fishing expedition" on the part of the agents who conduct the interviews. The is some scientific basis behind the polygraph machine, as there are biological responses the makes to stressors. It seems largely based on the instincts and feeling of the agents, they are the real thing to get past. Human intuition is the best lie detector available.

My agent said that a few of my charts(readouts) seemed a little suspect and that they might call me in again, but in the end gave me the all clear in her opinion. My poly lasted about 4 hours, counting a few 15-20 minute breaks, and I was only in the actual chair for maybe an hour.

Do not try to go into the room and deceive the agents, and you will be fine. Tell the truth.

Brooklyn is pretty much right. My first polygraph took about 6 hours. The second one didn't take as long. I want to say approximately 2.5 hours. Like I said, I am still waiting to hear back or not, so hopefully I passed. Just be honest, and if you have nothing to hide, then you have nothing to hide. Remember that.

So, can anyone tell me approximate turn around after you passed your medical that you go a call from your BI? Also, anyone wait forever to have their qualifications clear and their paperwork?

                  • Soo, just being a political nerd here, but the house just passed a CR on funding for the rest of the year. Included with it were provisions to keep DHS at current staffing levels, to include backfilling vacancies. This means that if it the bill passes the senate and Pres. then there should be no hiring freeze for CBP.

As for Longhorn, there doesnt seem to be a consensus of any timetable for the BI to begin after medical, etc. All I can tell you is that your BI is contracted to a private company, which sends out investigators to meet with you. These investigators have a due date for your paperwork, but as to how that date is decided, I have no idea.
From my personal experience, my investigator began pulling my credit and everything in early october, the same month as my medical, but i did not meet with him until December. He also told me that my due date was in mid-late dec.

That's great news! If only they would cancel furloughs for us too.

If funding levels are the same as last year they will cancel the furloughs as well.

Dont take it as the gospel, it still has to pass the senate, and then have the Pres. sign it, and of course there will be amendments to it, but it looks hopeful. Also have to wait and see how the administration and agencies handle this if it passes. It does give me hope thought, that I'll get that second call.
