User, are you within a 100 miles of San Ysidro? Speaking with the Supervisory CBP officers at my VBT/SI, they stated that CBP usually does not give out locations to candidates that reside within 100 miles of a POE.

Is it really necessary to bring them and what can i do if i cant find them?
IMBB, it may be a long shot but I'd try contacting MHC and ask if they can email you a copy of your SF-86 Eqip questionnaire in an encrypted pdf file. My SF-86 was released to me by MHC for additional information 2 months after I had completed it along with the required 6-7 signed forms. MHC has the ability to review and release to you your SF-86 as they did with me. They might just send you a copy if you ask, for BI/Poly purposes. Good luck.

I've already try that. Is a no go.

I don't think this is true.

I can't speak for my experience with OFO, but for CBP proper, that is not true.

Albert, just received a call back from the MHC about residency near ports of entry. He believes the restriction is for Border Patrol. He does not think CBP is overly concerned about any conflict of interest arising from a candidate residing in the same city as their assigned port of entry. He didn't quote policy so it may or may not be an undisputed response. If you get offered any of the locations within a 100 miles of your residence, then all my skepticism will be laid to rest. Good luck with the rest of the process!

That is totally not true. A guy in my class got a port where he was already living. Trust me when i say that people who have been doing this job for a long time are very out of touch with how things are now. Lots of misinformation on these forums too so don't take everything you read to heart
