          • hey all .... just got scheduled for my VBT/SI on January 23. I was wondering if anyone has any helpful tips and also in regards to the dress code, they "suggest business casual". Does that mean i shouldnt wear a suit? From what i have always been taught, you wear a suit to an interview. Any help you guys can offer would be great.

Business casual if you want to be seen as the person that does the bare minimum, or a suit if you want to be seen as the type of person that goes "above and beyond."

              • Btw, the Bipartisan Tax Agreement passed and delayed sequestration for 2 months

                whitehouse.gov/blog/2013/01/01/what-you-need-know-about-bipartisan-tax-agreement-0

The deal also postpones the sequester for two months, which will give Congress time to work on a balanced plan to prevent the automatic spending cuts that would threaten our national security and slash investments that build our economy. The postponement is paid for with $1 of revenue for every $1 of spending, with the spending balanced between defense and domestic: The agreement saves $24 billion, half in revenue and half from spending cuts which are divided equally between defense and nondefense.

Hi, As Steve just mentioned, Get your best suit (tie, shirt)and shoes ready!!! I considered myself that 50% of the interview is graded on how you are dressed.

Suit up my friend, you're right always were a suit to an interview. Like Stevie88 said, you want to be seen as a person that goes above and beyond. Plus you want to make a good first impression. We can't give you much info on the VBT/SI as we all sign a disclosure. Don't over think it. Just be yourself, relax and you will do fine. Good luck.

Exactly. Always suit up, sends a good impression and you never know who you are going to meet. I had someone at the Federal Building while I was waiting to get called for the SI if I was new around here, and asked me if I was Secret Service. Also, advice my Interviewer gave me was pretty obvious, but he said be on time and punctual in every step of the way. Get to VBT/SI early and wait until 15 minutes before to go up and sign in. Account for traffic and any security checkpoints at entry into Federal Buildings. Just shows a level of professionalism that the other people who were supposed to be there at the same time I was, which is why they were told to leave when they got there for being very late. Don't be that person.
