  • Hi everyone.. i've been lurking around this thread since i applied for this position back in oct 07. i made it as far as meeting w/ my investigator and then could not clear medically (vision). i opted for lasik, waited the 90 days to clear and eventually got cleared jul 08.

i haven't heard anything since, so i called the only # i knew which was my investigator and he said my application was withdrawn back in mar 08. how in the world did this happen? i thought that the 90 day hold was only so my eyes were able to heal! anyways here's my timeline. i am active on cass and MHC says i'm still active. IA however says that my app is discontinued.

Background investigator says i would probably have to reapply again to be considered. Do you guys have any thoughts at all about this?

    Tested 10/07
    NOR 12/07
    TO 01/08
    VBT 02/08 Cleared
    Physical/Fitness 02/08 Cleared
    Medical 07/08 Cleared

BI says it's in security office
    Drug Test Pending
    Quals Pending

Hard to say. We need more information. Why was your application withdrawn? Did you fail a step, failed to respond to a NOPA?

      • Am I the only one that received a TO in May, and not been asked to take a Drug Test? I am starting to think they forgot about little ol me.

          hi shawal16,

the only thing that i wasn't cleared for up to that point was the vision. i have since cleared by getting the lasik procedure done and i did respond to the NOPA. that's how medical knew to ONLY put my file on a hold. There is some miscommunication between washington, and mhc somewhere. HR says i'm active. cass says i'm active. IA however says i'm not and my file was more than likely destroyed.

This is something you would have to go over with MHC. If they still have your file as active and the only thing missing is you BI, then I don't think you would have to re-apply. All they need is your sf-86 and re-assign your case to another investigator in Washington... but then again, it is the government and it might be too easy to simply do just that...lol

I'd say call MHC and see what can be done.....

            Good Luck

Now that was funny right there.......

Three weeks ago I was told a NOPA was sent out to me, this week I was told that the guy that "sent" out the NOPA was on vacation...and probably why I haven't received it yet.... on tuesday she told me to call her today if I had not gotten it so that she could then send it "again".... That's called the run-around... BTW when I talked to the lady for the first time she didn't even know she had my case, and when she finally found it she told me that the last action taken was back in January (a buddy of mine in LA was the last person I know they contacted back in Jan.)... and I know of someone else in here that his file was cleared 4 months ago, and his file was just sitting there (as he was told)... makes you wonder some times

I find it hard to believe that my pre-academy business is going to be so difficult that I will need to move from "point A to point B" but that's fine, shorter day for me.

                  • i talked to mhc. i explained to them how i'm being told 2 different things about my applications status. IA saying discontinued, and HR saying active. they said they would assign a specialist to follow up on my case and to get in contact with them in a couple of days.

i really hope someone will follow up on this. i just can't believe that if i didn't try to follow up w/ my investigator, i would be sitting around forever!

My guess...There's a noticable number of people in the 22 to 26 year range, a much larger group in the 32 to 36 range, one or two younger than 22 and a scattering of people between 27-31.
I am currently in pre academy work at Philadelphia Airport. I leave next week for FLETC and right now we have 5 newbies, the youngest is 23 and the oldest who just started this week is in his upper 50's.

Does anyone know where you are sent if you have to take the 6 week Spanish course. I heard you are sent to N. Carolina, but I'm not sure if you just stay in Georgia.

So it gives me hope that you got the "call" Maybe I will be heading down there soon, MIA is my location as well...Good Luck Man! congratulations.
thanks man, oddly enough my background was the second thing to be completed on CASS before anything else. I actually met with my investigator after it showed up as completed. I was told i should have been at FLETC by now but a knee injury like 8 years ago delayed this process by almost two months while i had it cleared up. My investigator also told me that he was told to rush the miami applicants backgrounds becuase he will meet with them again at FLETC.

Spanish is in s carolina at FLETC. The thing is, from what I understand you might not go right after you graduate. I.E. You might graduate, go work at your port for a month and then get shipped out to SC

                              • Understanding that ‘transfers’ within the CBP are few and far between-- do I have a better chance of transferring within my geographic preference? My geographic preference is PA and I will most certainly be placed in Philadelphia. Do I have any better chance of making it back to Pittsburgh some day from Philly than if I was to change my preference to Maryland/Baltimore?
