  • Richierich707,

There's a reason why you got offered to write a Nopa. Use the Nopa template on the Honorfirst website and make sure that you write a great response. Own up to your mistakes and show them that you regret smoking MJ and that you matured since then.

I had to write a Nopa for my BP app and successfully got offered the job.

    Good luck!!

    • Does anyone specifically know how long are written scores good for? Do they expire after a certain amount of time (1 year)? Same with PFT1, medicals, VBT/SI, poly etc. What if the hiring process exceeds 1 year from the date you were given that particular phase?

If anyone fails at any of these phases after the written test, subsequently are they required to restart the cycle over again including taking the written exam? Or can the written score be used again for the next cycle of phases (PFT1, VBT/SI, POLY,BI)?

Just complete my PFT2, today. Not too big of a problem. I was primarily only concerned with my BP & Pulse rates. But, thanks to The Almighty Navigator in the Sky, an extremely helpful wife, and a weeks worth of listening to the classical station, it didn't hold me back.

As far as other details: I will EOD 12/31/12 in San Ysidro. My fletc convene date is 02/05/12. I was qualified for a GS 7 (due to current Fed L/E position, previous experience, and school) Step 4.

I am crazy excited. I am also extremely thankful to so many experienced voices guiding allot of us along the way.
        Congrats on passing the pft2!

For PFT2 they place the foam block under your sternum. you have to ensure your chest touches the block. Actually you can just bounce off it..lol. There would be no need to rest during push ups. You only have to do 17 and when you do it they stop you. If you do rest for more than 2 or 3 seconds you get terminated and fail.

Your written exam is good until they update the version of the test. I took mine in Dec 2010 and reused my test score for the March 2012 announcement. After 1 yr of medical you do a recert form. After 2 yrs you do the entire medical again. The VBT is good for 3 yrs. Honestly when your background is completed you would most likely be offered a position within the month of it being completed. I honestly do not know about PFT1. I assume it is good for 2 yrs but am unsure.

              • This is off-topic, but I'm going to give it a shot. Are there any other CBPOs that post in this thread that are also a Maritime Enforcement Specialist (ME) in the US Coast Guard? If so, I have questions.

                • Is it San Ysidro the best POE (port of entry) in the South West? What's your personal/general opinion about the POEs at the SW locations? I am really concerned about what port to choose... If any of you have any knowledge, please share... Also, could you state the best 3 port of entry or locations at the South West? Thanks!

                  • I wouldn't hazard a guess as to what criteria one would use in order to judge the 'best' PoEs in the South-West.

SYS is probably the biggest/most traffiked port by most reasonable standards.

Your only other options per what they told me was New Orleans or West Virginia. Congrats. The PFT2 was pretty easy. If you have been working out it will not be a problem.
I went with New Orleans. It honestly doesn't matter when I take the PFT2 but I would prefer to take it in Jan, since I am already scheduled for the entire month of December at my current job and it is very hard to take last minute time off. Hoping they give me a week or two notice before the PFT2.

Email the PFT scheduling unit. i had chosen Charleston cause my inlaws live there. I emailed them on a Monday and was taking my test that friday because that was the only day in December that they did it there. Of course I EOD end of December so i was in a rush.

I remember you posted that your current employer is going bankrupt. It is admirable you are trying to stick with them through the end, but don't short yourself with your future job with CBP. Most PFT 2 places are understaffed and only give the test once, maybe twice a month now. When they schedule you, take it no matter what. Thats why i say email them and let them know you picked New Orleans and see what you can work out.

I think people pick San Ysidro cause it is right there located in San Diego. Many people like good sized cities with plenty to do. Its personal preference. Do yourself a favor and research all the ports and make yourself a priority list of what you want. Then when they call, you can go down your list and see what you want so you can make your decision right then and there. If you wait the 24 hrs, someone else might snatch the slot you are thinking about. Thats my two cents.

Exactly. One man's trash is another man's treasure. And well, to some people Southern California is treasure. I'll withhold my opinion.

                                This is very true.

I am hoping that when I get an offer I at least have one decent place to go. I am really hoping for Nogales (It's one of the places my wife has given the green light for), but I have not heard anyone get offered it in a while, it seems the recruitment push has been to S. Texas.
