I gathered from reading that CASS only updates either once or twice a week on tuesday and thursdays, but does anyone really know?

    Good luck too all.
Do not worry. I received the same letter but CASS still says pending.

Having said that I am curious about the timelines for those that have applied for the SWB. I have seen some people that applied for the SWB in 2010 and not hired until 2012 but also have seen people hired for the SWB that applied this year and hired this year.

I am really looking for a consensus more than a concrete answer. I know everyone has different circumstances. I feel like the process is moving rather quickly and given the fact that I am going for the SWB, my hope is that with the push for bodies on the border as well as their need for women, an offer might come sooner rather than later.

        Thoughts? Similar timelines for SWB?

Girls do not process any faster than anyone else does, it would be an equal opportunity violation. The only groups of peopel that are allowed to be given preference are Vets and people with disabilities.

While I can't recall nor quote the exact legislation off the top of my head, and don't feel like looking it up, I do know that they CAN target women and hire them ahead of others as necessity dictates. We all know that women in this line of work are necessary and in short supply. In fact it was either the job listing or the web site that stated their need for female applicants. Of course I could be wrong.

The it has been explained to me is that the only way women can be specifically targeted is for positions in which it is necessary to have women. CBPO position would only be able to do this if they have written permission from the OPM and and inadequate amount of personel to do women specific duties such as screening women travelers.
At my current agency we had a quite indepth discussion about this due to the extreme lack of female agents.

I pulled this directly from the job announcement that was open from April to August of this year:

"Female CBP Officers are in high demand for the processing female travelers that are detained, interrogated and/or deported. Therefore, the U.S. Office of Personnel Management has granted CBP an exception to Title 5 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 332, Section 332.407 which authorizes the targeted recruitment of female officers in locations experiencing a critical need. Yes, I read that as well. With that being said, the need for women does not make them process at a different rate than others all that means is that they can get a TSL1 before a male with a higher NOR. After the TSL all bets are off and everyone just floats through the system.
