  • I've been reading forum for a while now, but haven't posted anything, I have a quick question, i had my physical and medical on 8/15/12, today I received a letter stating I did not pass my fitness test. I completed the step test without a problem, did 31 sit-ups and 21 push-ups in a minute (each) completed the lift/lower test of the 50LB in either 58 or 54 seconds and for the side step test my first trail was 8 and second was 9. Could the letter mean I failed my medical as oppse to my fitness. Or did I actually failed the fitness, and if so which area of the fitness did I fail? Can anyone help me understand this? Thanks. The only other thing that could be is: I stopped about 3 seconds shy of the 1 minute push-up test (I placed my knees on the ground- but I had already completed 21)

If you got a letter saying that you passed your fitness test, why would you ask us if you failed your fitness test?
      Gek.

      • I edited my post, I had a typo. I meant to say that I received a letter stating that I did not pass.

Okay... so I calculated your score. Remember that you have to accumulate 80 points between the first part of the fitness test (pushups, situps, side step, and lift/lower) and complete the step test in order to pass the whole fitness test. Based on the numbers you gave us, your score came out to exactly 80 points. Are you 100%, without a doubt, sure of those numbers? Especially with the seconds(time) on the lower/lift test, as hard as it is to believe, One second in your case makes all the difference, the difference between pass and fail.

Here is the link to the CBP fitness test score sheet: it's on page 11

Stopping before time will not effect you only if you have done the amount needed. When i took the fitness test at the end i was told i passed i did 55 push in 30 sec and stoped 35 sit ups in 45 sec and stoped, 13 then 14 side steps and the 50lbs i did it in 22 sec and also well 5 mins up, up, down, down.... When i finshed he told me i had passed it. There is a link in the cbp website that tells you the score you get buy checking what you have done, i beleave you have to get a score of 80 or above to pass, i scored 138.

Unfortunately I don't think you made enough points to hit the min of 80.
According to the scoring chart on CBP website under fitness test .pdf if i am reading it right:
                        21 pushups = 22points
                        31 situps = 26 points
                        54 seconds lift lower = 15 points
                        9 line touches = 12 points
                        TOTAL = 75 points

Hopefully i am reading it wrong or you can convince MHC that an error was made on their end somewhere. Best of luck to you.

haha, he is an idoit. Sad that those are the types of people that go into a process cry, complain, sue and then make the process even more difficult because they can't follow instructions.

Plus the funny part, I "liked" a status because i was one of the people that gave him the info in the first place. Although, he doesn't even know what GEO he applied to so doesn't surprise me he needed further clarification because his mom did his application for him.

                              anyway back on topic....

                              • I have a tough question: does anyone know the distance measurements between the center line and the two side lines for the "side step" test in PFT1? I want to practice for it, but couldn't find out the specs by reading CBP Officer Fitness Testing Fact Sheet. I probably would need to do better on this one to supplement my push-up weakness.
Also, does anyone know if you have knee injury or something, can you request to postpone the PFT1 test date?
                                Thanks!
