This of course is just hearsay but anything that gives a little bit of hope is good I guess.

Gotcha. I guess "hurry up and wait" is an appropriate mind frame for now. Thanks for the info.

I know. Right now I'm a BDO with TSA so if it comes to that, I'm not completely miserable where I'm at for now. Also, I have a wife, a 5 year old, and a daughter on the way(due in November), so a move to the Carribean would be too much at this point, so it's Florida or nothing unfortunately. I'm hoping my 102 will make the difference I guess.

GS 5, here I come.

In addition to meeting the qualifications of GS-07 (which have been more or less explained previously by others here), a person has to:

1: Apply under a GS-07 announcement. If a person hadn't applied for consideration as a GS-07 applicant, he won't be considered for a GS-07 opening, regardless of how well-qualified he is.

2: There needs to be a GS-07 funded position available in order for the agency to make a GS-07 offer. Each go-around, there are limited amounts of GS-07 offerings available. If the supply of GS-07 offers are exhausted, no more GS-07 offers will be issued until new GS-07 positions are funded.

My across-the-board, blanket advice...take the GS-05 and run with it. I've seen plenty of people argue over a few grand in base pay and ultimately set themselves back months if not years before being hired. Meanwhile, the guy who jumped quickly into GS-05 pay was hired, has seniority and after 12 months reaches GS-07 'the easy way'.

          • It all seems so random. Some people clear everything in 2 months while other applicant for the same EOD have to wait 2 years.

Heh. I've been waiting 15 months to go to South Texas with no end in sight.

              • Is CASS down for anyone else? I've been trying to login all morning with no luck, it keeps saying my SSN and Applicant ID aren't in the database...

                  • I just changed my GEO from Florida to the SW and within five minutes I got a reply from HR stating the chnage was made. That was a fast response.

Worked for me, have you taken your VBT/SI or polygraph recently?

Sometimes if you don't pass the vbt or poly or any other step, they won't let you log in.
