Obama's admitted use of cocaine would disqualify him. Food for thought, huh?

If the CBPO path doesn't work out, become a 'community organizer', run for the Senate and who knows from there? Maybe you could be sitting in the 'big chair'.

    • Lol Merlin ,I liked it.
Dmbrocks, whatever works for one guy may not work for another,I know people whom were dq for admitting smoking pot back in college.
Don't get paranoid, poly machine doesn't do magic and can't read your thoughts, the rest you will figure out on your own.

I don't want to sound badly, but for me, the use of illegal drugs is always bad, has happened in the past or not. And about second chances, it all depends on the situation. Excuse me for this opinion.

        • Thank you Americoza that's a very good point. I wish they didn't give poly's they aren't that accurate.

Can someone explain the step test? How many? And in what amount of time?

You step up with both feet and down with both feet to a recorded cadence which equals 120 beats per minute for a continuous 5 minutes. The step itself is 12" high. I thought it was wicked easy, others think it's tiresome, either way, prepare for it. You can download the cadence in mp3 format to your phone or mp3 player and try it out at the gym using some of those aerobic stepping blocks.

            • If you put that you used drugs within the last three years then withdraw your application. I had to withdraw yesterday after getting a call from the investigator. I can reapply again after the 3 year mark. And to be honest I only smoked marijuana once and the lady still told me i'm still within the 3 year time frame so i'll get disqualified. You should always be honest because if they pull up your application and see that you lied it can get you fired if hired.

Confused and nervous about getting the answers right, I did try marijuana when I was a teen but I dont remember if I stated that on the initial app. Would it be possible to change that on the app so I know for sure?
Thanks in advance for the help.

From what I took from my poly, is that they wanted to know if it was within the last 7 years. How many times etc... I cant stress this enough...... Do not lie! Come clean! The poly maybe not be magic but as for trying to beat it...... Good Luck! You may have read this or that but I promise anything that you may look up on the internet, they can defeat it. She could tell that I was trying to calm myself down. Im not a nervous fellow either.... ( I've been to war 3 times). You may have seen the thumb tack thing, it wont work.... Clunching your butt..... It wont work! I would just say to any that reads this and havent taken the poly yet just be honest! I admitted to smoking the grass a few times, but that was 9 years ago in high school before I joined the Army and became a "man" maybe I will pass, or maybe they will fail me for that! Either way it goes, I know I did my best, stayed true to myself and let all the shadow's out of my closet.

For any Vet's, they will ask you about your time in War! Any lives you have taken, anyone you have hurt, they will ask about everything. I was worried about this but we talked about it and as long as everything was within "your units ROE" they have no problems about it.

However, I don't think they are willing to compromise on getting someone that is 100% honest. At least I wouldn't. And I agree with you, I would pass me too.

" However, I don't think they are willing to compromise on getting someone that is 100% honest." Thats what the head of the poly section told me as I was waiting to get mines started ( because the dude before me took the entire 6 hours) The Head poly dude also told me that he was certain that the dude before me was not going to make it because he took 6 plus hours and he was trying to beat the machine..... He said " be 100% honest and you will be good", " its not always about what you tell them, its what you try to hide that will get you DQ'ed"

They go over your e-qips before hand. I just got hassled on one question but after we talked about it I/we figured out what was wrong. I didnt know the address for my parents so I used my grandmothers address. When asked a certain question about E-Qips, that came up as something I was not being honest about but again we talked, figured out what it was and got passed it. Good luck to you, like I told someone before, if all goes well we may just end up at FLETC together.
That will be nice. I am still waiting for the all for poly, hopefully they won't make me wait for too long. After you described your situation, it makes me wonder if G doesn't start our background until AFTER the poly. Mine says in Security Office, and you might be in the same shoe and since they are going over your eqip during the poly and pretty much asking questions on your eqip, I really think the background might have not started yet.
