You will not be permitted to carry a weapon on base at Charleston. You will have to check it at the gate just like at Glynco.

It was agency specific before the merge. Customs shipped the weapon to the port to be issued upon your return. INS issued the weapon at FLETC and the newly graduated officer transported the weapon back to the port with him or her. However, no ammunition was issued at FLETC so it was not unusual to see INS officers buying ammunition at Walmart not that I participated in anything like that.

Mine took about eight weeks, if I recall correctly, to clear in CASS.

          • Mine took 5 days to go green on CASS. From what I understand, the sample got sent to a lab in California. I'm in TX.

I called MHC like you suggested. They said they are pretty much concentrating on SWB for the rest of the fiscal year. I guess Southeast offers will go out for new fiscal year. I wonder if they send them out before then in anticipation of filling training classes starting after Oct 1. Like i said my medical would expire July 19 so i still have some time to decide if i want to switch to SWB.

You could wait it out or you can do like most of the applicants and switch to the SWB that's a choice you going to have to make and its how bad you really want to start the process

                              • I saw that many of the 1811 positions have this retirement:

Retirement Coverage 12(d): Criminal Investigators are covered under the provisions of both the Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS) 6 (c) or the Federal Employees Retirement System and 5 U.S.C. § 8412(d).

Is the CBPO position the same retirement? For example, if you start with CBP does that time count if you were to go to an 1811 position?

I didn't see in the announcement if the retirement was 12(D) or 6(c)?
