Hey rambo, the CBPO informed me that I passed the VBT. However he said to wait 4 - 6 weeks for the SI results. Do you know if you passed the SI too? It's a bit confusing because on my letter it says "the VBT is considered the SI" or something along those lines.

you better at least do a few sets of 5 - 10. even if you're only about to do 5 push-ups you can at least do sets of 2 or something throughout the day. Practice makes perfect!

There are reasons why people say don't study for the VBT/SI, don't go there with pre-conceived notions, yada and etc.

Customer service mentality and don't pull your weapon are two of them.
The excellent plan worked!! Except it worked to get me to pass the VBT!!! I still don't have the results for the SI though. They said I'd have to wait 4 - 6 weeks. >_< This waiting is eating at me.

        • Received a letter regarding my VBT/SI

          Eligible

Thank god I didn't have to wait for a month or I would've gone crazy. Now all that's left is the BI and Drug Test for me. I don't know if I will need a poly, I took one for BPA about a year ago.

My timeline is sorta like this:

          Written Test: 12/2010
NOR #1: 93 (Puerto Rico geo location)
Switched Geo to SWB on Dec 2011
          NOR #2: Jan 10 (93)
          TSL: Feb 16 2012
Pre-Emp Form: March X (Don't remember exactly) (Checked on Cass)
Medical: Carried over from BPA 9Checked on Cass)
PFT1: March 16th (Checked on Cass)
VBT/SI: May 3rd (Still pending on CASS)
          Drug test: Pending
          BI: In security office

you only need 80 point combine from the 4 excerises. if you check the requirements in the CBP website you'll see the point per push up and sit ups...

in a month if you practice every day you will build up.

But, you need to have a passing score in each test. You can bang out 100 sit ups, and score perfects on the side step and lifting tests, but if you can only do 1 push up (exaggeration), you still fail. You gotta at least meet the minimum for the pushups. This is what I do for pushups and core, i read about it on a fitness website, and it works for me:

All this is 1 set. Do 5-10 sets without resting, or go until you fail. When your arms give out on the pushups, get on your knees and go until you cant do those either. Do this twice a week and youll be banging out pushups and situps like a champ.

                            10 x pushups
                            10 x situps
                            10 x wide pushups
                            10 x reverse crunches
                            10 x triangle (close) pushups
                            10 x double crunches

but, Male or female if you can't do more than 25 push ups and 25 sit ups before the PT Test then something will go wrong during the academy. Dont wait until a week before the PFT to get ready. i take a PT Test (Army) every 6 months and we do PT 3 time a week so i am not worry about push ups sit ups nor a 1.5 mile run in 15 min... but if you or whoever is applying is worry about it running or push ups and sit ups then they either need to not apply or work hard and get in shape...

I think you should be open to a little constructive criticism, the fact of the matter is that he's right. You should make it a habit of expressing yourself in person, or on a forum with some sort of proper grammar. I'm not saying you need to exhibit perfect grammar and spelling but I think you'd be surprised how often you probably use the same methods of expressing yourself in person due to the fact that you've probably developed those habits and are unaware of it.

You didn't pass the VBT for some specific reason, Sandwichman was merely pointing out a possible reason and he's giving you advice to improve yourself so that your next time around might be more successful. Whether or not that hinges on the way you carry yourself in an interview is unknown but it never hurts to improve yourself in any way you can.

                                Good luck next time around.
