hey Gisey... i was about to post that... Coast Guard is not A MILITARY agency anymore, the only time they are a Military Entity is when they get Deploy in support of a contingency operation and they fall under the Navy's control, so when working in CONUS they are a Civilian Entity with some LEO capabilities under DHS with a military structure such as Ranks ect...

        • Hoping someone can answer this: if you pass all the testing steps for CBP officer and get to the medical and your uncorrected vision is worse than what they require; can you then, at that time, get corrective surgery and not have to repeat all the testing steps again? Thanks!

            • I have a question for those that are using post 9 /11 GI Bill while in training. Based on what zip code are you getting your entitlement, academy or port of entry? Also, how long takes to get your first payment after applying. Thanks

Assuming the PFT2 goes well, I'm moving cross country soon (Florida to Maine). My plan of action is this (assuming I pass the PFT2), I'll start packing as soon as I get home from the PFT2 and give my verbal 2 weeks at work. Closer to leaving time, I'll rent a 17' truck with a car trailer and pack up my house, then drive up to my port (meaning the actual building I'll be working in) about a week or a week and half before I have to report. When I get to the port building I'll introduce myself as the new guy starting on xyz, just drove for the past x days up there from Florida, etc, etc. I'll ask the port director or people working there for housing recommendations and rent either a house or apartment close to work. Then I'll go back to the port and ask around if anyone has some time to help me move a few pieces of big furniture (none of which is heavy just bulky) that I cannot move alone.

I'll then unpack, and return the truck and trailer. If time permits and I'm not exhausted, I'll then drive over to Toronto and hang out with my friends for a few days before reporting for duty.

                    Tre bien, oui?

A lot of people don't realize just how much of a challenge it is for women to do push ups. if there is anything you should be training for 3x a day, this is it, especially since you are a female. A LOT of females fail the pft's.

This is what I've been doing:
5 sets of 10 for each: (or as many as you can)
                      -regular push ups
-Push ups with arms far apart
-Push ups with arms close together
-Push ups with arms far apart.
-Push ups with legs elevated on a chair or couch.

I do these 2x a day. and 3 x a day when I can. and every week just increase your count by 3.
Good show. Like anything else, the more you practice the better you'll get at it. With muscles, same thing applies. Learn the form first, then the number of reps you can do and your strength will increase. If you have strong triceps your push ups also become easier to do as both chest and triceps are used when you do them.
