  • So i was sent a letter saying i was not medically cleared because of a minor knee injury. And i spoke with the nurse handling my file in the medical unit and she told me to fax her the letter from my doctor directly to her so she could get it cleared quickly and foward my file to the scheduling unit to start fletc. Anyway my question is about the holiday schedule at fletc. Since christmas day falls on thursday the 25th, does that mean that we will only have that one day off since that friday isnt a holiday? or would they give us that thursday and friday off for those that would try to fly back home for the holidays? Same goes for new years.

I have the same problem, but with a shoulder injury. Question, do they post-pone your background investigation once they determine you are not medically cleared and they are waiting for a letter from your doctor?

No. I also have a shoulder injury, but two days after I called them to let them know (which switched me to NMC) I was called for the drug test, and then one day after that, the BI. Granted this is for my BPA application, but I don't see how it could be any different.
        "Officer, you are kinda hot."

        "And you are kinda intoxicated."

Im not sure if they post-pone the background investigation because in my case it was one of the first things to show up as completed on CASS. My investigator told me he only took two weeks to complete my background and he started it like a week after i did the medical evaluation. I guess my medical problem appeared after he was done. As for the letter i was able to speak directly to the nurse in charge of my file due to a special circumstance. Due to the fact that my medical records were destroyed during hurricane wilma a couple of years ago she said that i could see my doctor again and have him write a letter saying what happened and to explain in detail that my injury was minor and that im good to go.
But she did mention that generally they want a letter from a specialist so they could decribe the injury in detail with correct terminology because the people evaluating the medical record at cbp are physicians. They just want to make sure you wont be a liability at fletc if you get injured and that you will actually be able to complete the training.

I am in week two and I am going back through the training ive already done just to refresh the things ive read, simply because ive got 2 weeks left and all of my training is pretty much done... so take your time and try to understand everything they give you. Its boring so taking breaks and walking around to wake up several times a day to make sure you are somewhat focused is probably a good idea.
Pre-academy has always been more about finding/weeding out those people most likely to quit before spending 10's of thousands of $$$$$ on them in training costs, rather than time spent in doing much meaningful.
In the old days, too many people would spend a day or two at their port, head off to FLETC, graduate, and then decide a week or two later that the job/location was not to their liking and resign. P-A was implemented to cut down those loses.

                • Hi all, new to the board here. I’ve been reading for a few weeks now, thanks for all the great info so far. Just wondering if anyone has any idea how many vacancies there currently are in the Buffalo area. When I applied it simply stated ‘few’. Does anyone know what a few typically refers to? (3,10,25 etc.) Best of luck to everyone who tested recently; I’ll be taking my place in the back of the wait line now.
                  Three's the charm, right?

                        • job status line

So I checked the job status line and YES, it is more up to date than CASS. As of today my BI says completed. Haven't met with an investigator yet though, weird. Interim maybe? In CASS it says pending "case in the sec. office". 612-467-7040

                          • I was just wondering if anyone knew how long it takes for someone to recieve a call for a academy date, once you have cleared everything on CASS?
I applied for CBPO on March 08 San Diego Sector preferance, and I completed all the steps as of yesterday and Im just wondring when I should start packing my things and get out of Az and say hello to sunny San Diego.

My suggestion, call scheduling Monday.... they may give you the job offer right then and there. 612-467-7017. but, no promises.

It means you have completed everything. The only thing scheduling is waiting for is a class date (not too hard since they start almost every week), and funding for a position at one of the ports you wanted (more difficult due to most ports needing people). Until you are on the clock there are no promises, but since you cleared everything I'd be expecting a call soon.
But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object, evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new guards for their future security.

For the intelectually challenged: If the government screws the people enough, it is the right and responsibility of the people to revolt and form a new government.
