Sounds good, the wait continues. Just glad I was able to talk to someone about my status. The light is getting closer to the end of the tunnel it seems.

I wouldn't worry about it. If they found something negative they would of contacted you already. And your going to Laredo, TX you'll get the call soon. More than half the people here at the academy are going to Laredo.

Sweet!! Thanks for the info! So it wont be mandatory until January 2013. And as of now 20% of applicants receive a random polygraph. That straightens that out.

Much more than 20% of applicants are now receiving polygraphs, especially for SWB.

                  • my classmate at my port didn't pass her 1st polygraph. She then retested under their suggestion and passed. She's the only one out of us 8 that had to take that test.

Then coincidentally in the internal journal for CBP (forget it's name) there's a nice long article about why the polygraph works.

                    • hey Rocafella,

How do people in the CBP program get to and from classes at FLETC? Do you see people rolling around on longboards? Would a road bike or mountain bike be better suited for the commute from the dorms/housing to the classrooms?

I pulled up FLETC on gmaps but trying to figure out what buildings the classes are in, in relation to who knows where my housing will be is a bit tricky.

                      thanks

                      • To any of you guys that recently got the call to EOD, how long before the call did you do your second BI?

                        or

Have any of you currently at your POE or in FLETC gotten a call to do a second BI?

After my first BI (2 years ago), the investigator told me that I wouldn't have to go through one again until 5 years after I became a CBP officer (and every 5 years thereafter). I asked the second investigator about the discrepancy and why I'm being asked to do another complete BI (neighbors, employers, coworkers, friends getting interviewed, paperwork gone over, etc, etc), and he told me that he usually does the 2nd BIs right before someone gets hired (right before EOD), or right after (already at POE or already in the academy) and that it is being done to increase my security clearance.

The investigator told me that I should hear back from someone (I'm guessing TSU) in about a month or two and that the second BIs don't take very long to clear. Anyone else go through this recently?

You have two choices: walk or take a shuttle. The use of bicycles, boards, or anything other than your own two feet or authorized by FLETC during class hours have been prohibited. The CBP academy is para-military so expect to sometimes march to/between classes. After class hours, you're free to use whatever you want.
