Nope, I put down Miami, FL first, then got an email half a year after the written test saying they will have immediate needs at a brand new multi million dollar facility in Maine and I'll get in faster if I'm willing to change my GEO, so I did to NE. The funny thing is, that people that applied for Miami (and took the test after me) have already gotten in, and I'm still waiting.

        • HOORAY!!! I checked CASS today and they've re-cleared my medical. Nice to see all green "completes" again. There's no "referred to scheduling" yet (or I should say "again"). I haven't seen that on mine for about a year (when they wiped everyone's off). I'll take each little positive as they come though! For those that don't remember, or didn't know, I've been working on getting med "issues" straight since November. I had to repeat the physical due to my last one expiring. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that 2012 will be my year. Of course, I've told myself that since '08! Still in the game though!!

anyway I've been reading these posts since December which was when I got transferred to the scheduling unit(12/13/11) still waiting on EOD... I tested on 8/31/11. my background only took about a month from the time when I met the investigator to the time it was updated on cass, and no I didn't take a poly, however I'm a naturalized citizen, and I also heard all kinds of story about the background, my advise is dont sweat it as long as you don't have anything mayor you'll past it. I did have a sec clearance already from the Army, but I don't know if that had anything to do with it. so I just wanted to shared some of my info and let you guys know that have the same date as me that I will let you guys know when I get the call, so you guys can be ready for it, and hopefully you can do the same. btw I tested for SWB. thanks for all the info that you guys put our, even the bad ones.
Hey Mandarrin, I'm a 9/11 tester. I switched my pref. to the SWB around Christmas. Still haven't received a TSL though! I'm also a naturalized citizen like yourself. Anyways, it is good to know that, when it does happen, things might move along pretty quickly as it did with you. Where were you born if you don't mind me asking?

I don't mind at all, primarily because there was no problem!
To make a long story short, one clinic involved in my physical screwed up my vision and hearing test (the only thing they performed). At the other clinic the "doctor" must have written some crappy evaluation. CHS contacted me and advised I just needed to fax them a copy of my prescription for my glasses (I'm farsighted, and need them for up close small stuff), which I did. I then received another call from them stating I failed the hearing and I needed to have an in-depth exam by an audiologist. They also said due to having had a broken foot 5 years earlier and a suffered tingling in my hands several years earlier I would have to further evaluations by two different specialists. All of these further exams on my dime of course!

The kick in the pants was, this was not my first physical. My broken foot and tingling hand were on my original physical. I do suffer a hearing loss, but have had it for over 15 years, as result of working around jet aircraft for a number of years (and it was a narrow high frequency range). The break in my foot was a very minor one and the tingling hands were a result of inflammation around a nerve in my back causing pressure. It was cured my several steroid injections.

Due to the fact that they wanted all of these evaluations done during the holidays, getting appointments in order to meet the deadline was a nightmare. I got them done though and mailed them off along with a letter I wrote stating what I do in my job everyday and how the previous injuries in now way affected my daily performance. They wrote back again stating that there wasn't enough info from the doctor's evaluations and I needed further statements from them. Back to their offices again to obtain copies all of their clinical notes too!

I mailed off the additional paperwork to MHC just before New Years. I realized that the holidays would slow things down. Not only did they have to receive it and look it over, I was advised it would then need to go to DC to a doctor for further consideration. I guess that's complete now!

Grand total it cost me about $100 (thanks to help from medical insurance), but to me it was worth the investment. I do feel a lot of having to go through all this was caused by the contract clinics. CHS did advise me they were taking one of them off of their contract list due to not being able to perform the services they were supposed to. Hopefully it'll save some future applicant some grief!

Well, here's my time line guys:
I’m assuming you and I took the test the same day in San Diego and as you will see from my timeline it looks like you’re farther in the process than me. I haven’t had a poly or drug test yet but I did meet with my background investigator even before I took my VBT. There seems to be no method to the madness it’s different for everyone.
If I had to guess I say you are 4 to 6 months out from getting the call; backgrounds usually drag.

yea, I heard a lot of different stories about how the background would take months, so I though that when they transferred me to the scheduling unit they would call me real quit, but almost a month now and still no call, so I guess I just have to wait. anyway I'm sure you'll get your TSL soon enough, and don't pay attention to the negative comments and advise, just the positive ones. btw I was born in Venezuela. how about you?

yup we stayed right on collins. speaking of strippers, we checked out Madonna's on washington i believe, and i gotta say it was THEE WORST strip club I've ever been to. i don't even think they served liquor! we were expecting to see Cuba's finest but no, we got the girls from the Pork n Beans area. ok i kid they weren't THAT bad but i was disappointed. we pretty much lived on Ocean drive. Wet Willies (call a cab)..Mangos...The Clevelander was my favorite spot though for sure. ahh man i start the academy in march.. who knows when ill be able to get out to the 305 again

Our timelines are almost identical except i haven't met with a Background investigator and im not referred to the "scheduling unit" yet. The wait is killing me but I guess I shouldn't be complaining when comparing myself with the other applicants waiting >1+ years. Hurry up and wait I guess!
