Del Rio is a nice place all around.

When did you get your tentative offer?
    Gek.

You're lucky to get a chance to take a 2nd one. I was told I failed mine and received the thin envelope recently. I called IA and advised them I had a doctor willing to write a letter stating that situational anxiety could have caused a false positive. The person at IA seemed sympathetic and stated that polygraphs are just a tool that sometimes yield false outcomes, but also told me that CBP policy states I could not be granted a 2nd test and that any application for CBPO or BPA that I might submit in the future would use the results of my failed poly to determine my suitability... I.E., I'm ineligible to ever be hired by CBP.

Talk about a punch in the gut for me. I was 100% honest and thought that's all I would need to do to pass. Good luck on your re-test.

There is usually plenty work for barbers at least in border towns with CBP present.

She'd also have the option of carrying her own gun there, no license needed.

Green Valley is a fairly good sized town(15Kish) about midway between south Tucson and Nogales.

I don't see why you both couldn't figure out something that puts you somewhere in/near Tucson.
Thanks for the feedback everyone. I'm meeting with one of the BI's today, and I'm definately not thinking of passing this up. The more I think about it, the more I prefer it over LAPD.

Ocho Tres, how far along did you go in the process? My last weigh in two weeks ago I was at 24% body fat, so they told me I just need to lose the 2% and I'm scheduled for the psych interview on Monday. As far as I know that's the last step. I don't know if they would spend this much money on me and not give me an offer. Either way, I already have this, so there's a huge weight off my shoulders now.

        • I had my VBT, it was kinda weird so whether me passing or failing was a hit or miss. Also I was never offered a structured interview, Which also makes me think I may have failed...but lookin at my notice for the for the VBT it stated that the VBT is the structured interview and i also noticed as soon as I arrived for my interview the instructor never mentioned a structured interview only the VBT. So has anyone took the VBT and was not given the structured interview?

Actually I just had my VBT Nov. 8th 2011 in Detroit, MI I took the test which seemed pretty easy more of common sense on what to do but I was never offered a structured Interview yet either I was told a week to two weeks and id recieve a letter with my results. So I mean it happened to me too but I'm not sure if it's good or bad.

            • I gotta say, the VBT is one of the more awkward things I've had to do in a while.

I did read a post a while back were someone said that they were told the same thing and their structured interview was given at a latter date. I think each location may run differently; I just took mine on Nov 2nd and was told that I had passed the VBT and made it to structured interview. I did both in same day, this is how its being done in NY and NJ.

                I'm sure you did great!

Mine was weird too. I did the VBT/SI thing last week. After the VBT I was told to wait in the lobby while they scored it. About 45 minutes later they came out and said that I passed the VBT and then escorted me back to the structured interview. They never said anything about the structured interview part until I passed the VBT portion.

I have to say I walked out of the structured interview thinking I bombed it, but received the NOR on Monday that I had passed.

This whole process seems to be really flying by. After the VBT/SI I had a VM from CHS to schedule my medical appt. I'm sure things will come to a screeching halt, but it's somewhat promising thus far

Good luck to everyone in the process.

Hmm..just remembered something. Out of the 3 people that failed at the PFT2 I attended...one of the females (that failed) was to EOD in Detroit. That was just 2 weeks ago today.....let's hope that spot falls to you!

bro not to bust your dream but from what ive been told about the structured interview from applicants in my class is that once you take your vbt you know they are recording you and watching you from another room they make a determination on the spot if you fail or not if you pass they tell you to stand by for the interview if you fail they tell you they dont have time for the interview but will send you a letter of results and a date for the interview at a later date but the reason they do that is so they can let you down easy. i took my vbt in 2009 when it was a vhs and they send it out and my results came back 3 months later.

The only step I'm missing is the call from the big guy. Tough process. It's different for everyone so I don't want to discourage you. I was unlucky to get a BI that was such a weirdo. Might as well go to your psych interview regardless if you plan to take the job. Who knows what's gonna happen in life.

                            • Vbt & si

If you are a 2010 or 2011 tester you have to take the VBT & SI. Some places just don't have the manpower (3 people to watch your VBT) to give you your results and a possible structured interview. These places are rare. When I went for my tests the receptionist told 4 different people I was there. I knew if I didn't get the SI I failed the VBT. Good luck to all who are waiting!

"Bro," you aren't busting his dream. I was told my VBT had to be sent away to be viewed and I would be notified in the mail whether I passed or failed. A few weeks later, I received a letter in the mail saying that I passed. After that, I received another letter with future dates for the next process... and eventually I entered TSU.
