  • I have little doubt the folks in MHC know all there is about future class scheduling and projected hires. Whether they'll admit to it and share what they know...that's another story.

The truth is that the average CBPO probably has access to much of that as well. Having access and knowing how to access that access are two very different things though. Unless a guy knows specifically what he's looking for and where exactly he needs to go looking for it, he's not going to find it.

It's all FOUO as well. Those who know it aren't likely to be posting it on an open website such as this.

    • How are applicants changing their GEO preference after receiving a TSL? Isn't that contrary to what we've been told since applying for this position?

      • Some funding crosses over the FY barrier. As an example, a hypothetical law passed tomorrow authorizing the hiring of 1000 new CBPOs in each of the years 2012-2016 would fund those positions during those years. I don't know if there is anything out there from 2009 that current affects CBP hiring, but it's possible there is.

        • Puerto Ricooooo, how many people here are form P.R.???

          Waiting for this?
My GEO is Miami and damn I wish this could be moving faster. Im really really want to get out of P.R.

Im wondering wy my background is taking so long, and by the way I still hold a Secret clearence from DoD and hold a Top Secret from 2004 thru 2009.

You are correct, the agency can hire officers for period of time with fundings already assigned
Example: bill HR 1561 PORTS Act by sen Silvestre Reyes looking to hire 5000 CPOs ,
            And support personnel
Even do I'm in it, the Agency works with weird moves.

              • Of course, a snowball in hell has a better chance of making it out intact than Reyes's PORT act.

Plus...5000 additional CBPOs? Where would we put them all? Say "hello" to massively crowded ports designed for half the new staffing levels and an overall watered-down job experience. Say "goodbye' to most overtime and expect to work for close to base pay.

If you would just read what is on cbp.gov it states "we will try to schedule your pft1 within 30 days of your TO". ALSO ON CBP.GOV "IF YOU FAIL ANY PART OF THE PFT2 YOUR OFFER WILL BE RESCINDED AND YOU WILL HAVE TO REAPPLY." CASS only updates on Tuesdays and Thursdays!!!! There is no point of checking on any other day. Sometimes CASS is a week behind what actually is. Personally I would be scared if I got a TO before NOR for the 2011 test, because odds are you are going to a place nobody else wanted. High demand poes have a long line of people waiting. CASS PHONE LINE WAS DISCONNECTED. Now go workout! Just kidding. Stay safe.

I'd double check your sources, if that works for you congrats but I'd reconsider medical advice like that.

                      • What are the dimensions of the Side-Step Test?

PFT1 coming up: I am practicing everything, but I don't know how much space to use for the side step test. Can anybody tell me what that is? I've look everywhere and I haven't found any measurements of the distance from the centerline.

Any help would be appreciated, even a guesstimate at this point would be better than nothing.

                        Thanks?

ps. Got notice that my VBT is at the end of October in SD.

I change my geo to SE from SW by applying to the new application left on usajobs.gov and then a day later I regreted it so i emailed them and all they did was switch it back and cancel the application for SE because it never went through yet. not sure about anybody else.

                              • So I am nervous. Happy to be done with the steps and just waiting on the call. My BI met me Tuesday and my report was already submitted and all references seen within one day!!! Wow. Anywhoos I thought I would be happy but truth is I am not in shape. It took me 25 minutes to do one and a half mile around the park track and that was running and walking. But i have only done it 4 days straight so thats pretty good. I am also faithful. whether I get up 6 am or 12 noon, I run. If I do not get to go druing the day, I wait till HUbby is home and go running in the parking lot late at night (midnight). I'm gonna get this. Just hope I am able to do the 17 minutes and master it before "the call."

Any advise on how to be quicker with my time if i am walking and running? I will have to build up to running completely, but that may take awhile. I can run half way around the track then walk then on and on.
