We are out of the runnings until we go green again in cass.

Anyone who has a pending BI and has not received E-Qip forms - call ASAP to get back on track. If I had never called, I would stay in pending for the rest of my life.
Just keep in contact with the Minneapolis Hiring Center, if you want the job bad enough you would want to constantly contact MHC. This is another way people may get ahead of you because the person behind you may have all green checks.

If you have a a drive that's over 12 hrs, I wouldn't advice to do it... You can pull a 12 hr drive in one shot, but it'll suck!... anything over that will be 2 days driving.

That would be taking leave time... and you only accrue 4 hrs per pay period. I wouldn't advice taking a week off right after the academy, unless you are moving your family over to the POE... and you should at least get everything set there before you take the time off for the move.

                  • Guys I NEED HELP!!! I have a question for anyone that has had to get a Medical Clearance from a doctor after their initial medical exam. I have completed all other steps of the process and don't want to mess this part up so any advice would be appreciated.
In the past I have had some shoulder surgeries and back issues from years of lifting heavy in the gym. As far as I'm concerned I'm fine but I need a doctor to give me the clearance. My question is the form does not specify what kind of doctor. What I want to know is if I can just go to my regular general doctor and get him to sign it or do I need to go see my specialist back doctor and see if he will sign it?
Lastly it says to return the form along with the requested medical evaluation and medical records. It doesnt specify anywhere else on the form about what medical records they are requesting so are they referring to the medical records in relation to the medical evaluation this doctor will perform?

You should go to your doctor, give he or she the paper work from CBP. You also may want to visit the doctor that provided your back treatment. Also, get copies of your medical records for your injuries. One thing I've learned about this profession is you need to be thorough. Get at least the minimum requirement.

                      • I knew a guy from Alaska who drove to Glynco.

2-3 from Wash/western MT as well.

As I recall, the Alaska guy was former postal...so he was carrying over leave from his old job.

Personally, I'd drive if I could do it within 2 days. Much further than that might be asking for problems.
Then again, having a vehicle available in GA is one heck of a plus. I'd be tempted to do it if at all possible.

                        • Guile, i had to deal with this as well. Due to only having one kidney, and a doctor putting down some miss information in my packet to customs. Just go see you regular doctor. He will check you out. if needed he will send you to a specialist. Just remeber to get all the paper work they are asking for. For me customs wanted my blood works and other things. So just get all the info they want. Your doctor should be able to hook you up with all of that.

In other news my cass went from "Referred to scedule EDO." to "You have tentatively met the pre-employment requirements and your file is being reviewed. Once a final determination is made that all requirements have been met, you will be notified of the next steps." Not sure if that is good or not but seems like it. started this in 2008 hope my time comes soon.

I saw an Alaska plate the other day, but I'm sure he wasn't a Basic student...
It is indeed an advantage to have a vehicle here, if just to have the ability to go to the store when you want, or to simply get away on the weekend and explore your surroundings. If you have more than a 2 day drive... I'd say no.

                            • I think my question a couple of pages back may have been overlooked. I was wondering if anyone knows how MHC handles a documented injury like a broken bone once a tentative selection letter is issued. Do they put you on hold as an applicant for the PFT1 and medical or are you dropped from the process. I've tried contacting MHC with no response so any information would appreciated. Thank you.

The only ones that can answer that question with any sort of certainty is MHC personnel, in the time that I have been here I've never run across this situation from any applicant... you'd be the first.
                                Good Luck!
