  • I was told by a former CBPO who still works in the upper ranks of CBP that Dec 2010 SWB and SE applicants are zipping through the process right now as CBP is trying to utilize available funding prior to the new fiscal year. At this point it's anyone's guess what the fy12 budget will look like and most people are anticipating a reduction. He mentioned that even with my score I should not anticipate a TO anytime soon for the northeast region but to stay focused on training and keeping fit. He is anticipating a very slow upcoming hiring year for CBP, I hope he's wrong but it seems logical.

Congrats to those who have gotten the call recently, seems like you all really deserve it.

Unfortunately, I did not have to listen to that. Mine was more of an electronic cadence beat...which was more difficult to listen to. I rather have the up, up, down, down voice instead.

Are you shooting the "150" course or the "300" course? Which do you have to qualify at?

I would suggest that you not work on any firearm related skill until you are at the academy. They would like you to learn their techniques. It is always a lot harder to unlearn habits and techniques that you have already learned then it is to learn it the way CBP wants you to do it.
