    • Well...
My class has only 2 going to the SWB, everyone else is scattered around the country... LA/Long Beach, East Texas, NWB & NEB, and Miami. The timelines for all are from 3-4 years in waiting, I'd have to confirm the timeline for the 2 going to the SWB.

Older announcements that came right around when CBPOs got 6c coverage they were letting people come in after 37 if they had TOs. On the newer announcements this will not be the case. You could be waiting 5 years for some ports! they are not going to hire you over the age just because you had a TO, especially with the thousands of people in the pipeline that are still under 37. From my experience you can call MHC everyday with the same question and get a different answer, or just get blown off. Don't risk it and put in for a backup job ASAP
Unfortunately, we dont have 6c coverage..we have CBPO Enhanced Retirement Coverage.

the only thing that they did for me is pull my credit, my job or friends have not been contacted which is weird. she called me restricted on my cell phone and the lady said she is coming on 8/8 to 8/12 to do my poly from washington d.c.. she never said anything about background which is also weird......so that is all the info i have so far.

              • So....

I have my first meeting with my BI tomorrow morning at my college and I was going to wear a business suit. My father (30 years retired with major LE agency in my state) told me that I was going a little overboard. I told him times were changing but he remained firm on his position.

Now I am doubting my decision in wearing a suit. Any thoughts?

                • Your not going overboard. A conservative suit is perfect. I just met with another BI today and wore kakis and a striped button down shirt no tie and it was fine. But I have been through multiple BI interviews already and I knew it would be fine, plus it's hot as crap over here right now. I would have been dying in my one black suit.

well if the meeting is only for about an hour then i guess it is ok, but you want to be comfortable. how about corporate casual with a polo shirt and business pants? a jacket may be a bit much. but if you are doing a poly also, then definately not a suit!!! you will be uncomfortable.

good luck to you tomorrow. i am doing a poly before my background, which is wierd. you think it has to do with me being born in the islands? or maybe 10 different address changes? kinds weird.

Yes you are correct, but don't say unfortunately! Some fed police agencies just get regular FERS, that sucks. But my point was don't plan on getting on after 37 without some type of prior covered fed experience or credible military service.

Ultimately, YOU do what YOU want to do. I would have to agree with your Dad though...a little overboard. Suit is more appropriate for your VBT/SI. Just be presentable. Just my $.02!

True that bro! Also we get double time for our OT...I don't know of any other agencies that do that.

                              • I met with the investigator yesterday at my job, it was a really good experience, I was with her for about 5 hours. All my references from my current employment were there and available to be interviewed; I've already received phone calls from a ton of people who I used as references (personal and professional) and they all have received a phone call from the investigator and have scheduled a time and place to meet with her. I feel like she's really on it, there is a possibility that she may complete everything on her side by the end of this week or early next week. Another thing I would like to mention, the investigator looked at the date I submitted all my information and she said it's unusual that someone would start the investigation process within a month of submitting all the pre-employment forms. I told her that I was surprised also because it was just last week that I did the medical and fitness.
YOU'VE GOT THE MAGIC EYE, HOYT!!!
