2 year for the SWB region and 2-4 years anywhere else. Took me 3 years 11 months for Florida... I'm about to begin my 2nd week of pre-academy training at my POE before I head out to the academy on the 25th. Do the test and if get the offer complete every step as they come along, but by all means move along with your life. Look for other employment in the meantime, TSA or anything you can get your hands in... nothing is going to get you in quicker, just bite the bullet and play the waiting game like everyone else.

2-4 years? WOW. It seems everyone i took the test with in August 2010 for BPA got a call recently, i wonder why CBPO is longer. Anyway had a question to the VETS of the process, would the BPA timeline expedite the process or transfer over? thanks.

Possibly. The BI and drug test are the same and both move in either direction for applicants.

        • Ya that why I asked about the time frame my watch commander took bpa test in August and he just finished back ground and heads to academy in 3 weeks I think. Wonder why cbp officer takes so long. Has anyone been taking any classes or seminars in advance of employment to bolster there trainning. I trying to find reputable homeland security classes online.

I did well on the vision and was even able to read down to the 20/10 line. My only area of concern is that during the hearing test I could hear noise coming from other areas and I don't believe I missed any of the beeps but I think I may have pressed the button during times where there were no beeps. Do you guys think they penalize you for that or do they disregard the extra button punches and only care about missed beeps?
i did the same thing also this past friday. i doubt if that is an issue.

well my husband's best friend works for CBPO at port of miami and he didnt start any of the steps until 2 1/2 years after passing the exam. He told me because my stuff is going through quickly since i picked the SW, that more than likely we will be in the academy beofre the end of the year. i hope this is true.

I know those that have already taken it are not allowed to say much about it but I am a little nervous because I have completely no idea what to expect. I'm wondering if the interview is mostly stuff about myself or more about how I would react in certain situations, perhaps a combination. If there is any advice you guys that have already taken it can give us to help us prepare a bit it would be very much appreciated.
Also, this is the last thing I have to actually complete other than the PFT 2. Once I have this out of the way what might be a good estimate for how long I may have before I might be scheduled for the PFT-2?
you sign a non disclosure so i cannot say much. Just answer each and every part of it. dont not stutter or be shy, just speak loud and clear. you will be fine.

Question for you, did you get acknowledgement of them changing your geo preference? I haven't even gotten that!
