Prebuds fitness program from Honorfirst...get yourself to where you can handle their schedule II training and you should have little problem with the fitness program at FLETC.

Oh ok, the reason I asked was because my cousin put in for MIA and she hasn't received her TO, but she scored a 92, so that's probably the reason.
I seem to be moving along quite quickly. Hopefully things continue to move along.

For all of you new App's...
The process moves fairly quick from once you receive your TO, your next few steps will come by really quick and steady until you meet with your Investigator. After that the real waiting begins... 6 months to a year to clear the BI, a Poly might be included in there as well, then once you hit TSU you'll be placed in line according to your TO (certificate) date.
I can understand the "excitement" you all might feel about how "smooth & quick" it might seem at this point with the movement, but the reality is that you're all looking at 2 years at least before an actual EOD and this is even for those SWB "high need" POE's.
Just trying to keep all you new guys in check, this is a very long drawn out process that most times make absolutely no sense whatsoever, so keep your expectations low and you won't be going mad a year from now on "why haven't I gotten the job yet?"...

A few years back I had a pretty big shoulder surgery on a torn labrum in my left shoulder. For anyone that has ever had a tear of some kind in their shoulder I'm sure they know its never really the same again, they tighten everything up and sure the pain is gone but honestly by range of motion in that shoulder just sucks and this is after 3 years. How much of an issue do you think this will be regarding the medical? I can get it behind my back I just can't lift it very high up my back or hold it at a 90 degree angle parallel to my head like I can with my right shoulder. Is this something they will even look at during the medical? If so I'll just go **** my pants now and get it over with.
I have had tears in both my shoulders over the years. The last on was in February from snowboarding and I had to do another medical in March. I did not require surgery on either on though. I was a little worried because I know they do a range of motion test and I definitely was not 100% on my right shoulder at the time but I passed with no problem. Both of my shoulders will never be 100% again but I have still been able to complete every medical/physical and PT exam I have had to do.

It could be a problem if it truly prevents you from doing normal things or say for instance holding a gun out in front of you. Why don't you schedule an appointment with your regular doctor or an occupational specialist and have them run you through the range of motion, strength, and balance tests to see exactly where you are at. Then if it's really a problem you should be doing some type of physical therapy to get that strength back at certain angles.

            • Thanks for the insight LIcoastie, I lift weights every day and am able to do to day to day activities with no issues. It actually feels stronger then it was before the surgery, its just very non flexible. For instance if you keep you elbow at your side and try to turn your arm outwards (elbow is at a 90 degree angle) to where you arm is parallel to your body I can only turn my arm about halfway out to where my hand is pointing in a north west direction instead of straight west.

This is just really bothering me becaise I am in great shape in all other areas but I am just very stiff in that shoulder from a 3 year old surgery. I do not think anyone would ever even be able to tell I had any issues with it at all unless they made me do a range of motion test which just so happens to be part of the medical. Shy of doing physical thereapy I guess all I can do is stretch it out every day and hope for the best on the medical. Did you get to find out if you passed the exam the same day you took it?

              • GUILE,
You will not know if you pass your medical that day, you will receive a letter from MHC pointing out any and all deficiencies or problems found, and there might be an opportunity to have your own Doctor do some tests and send in forms to clear you... not a guarantee though, it will depend what it is they find you didn't pass and if there's an opportunity for you to do your own test to clear it...in other words finding a specialist in that area you didn't pass to have it cleared by them. The medical is done at contracted office that simply does a "general" check up type deal. First time I did mine, they found me to have NO depth perception, only for me to go to an eye doctor to do the actual test and find that I was above average in that area.
So if it is something that is not an automatic DQ they'll give you a chance for you to clear the issue.

This is taken directly from the email that I received.

"If you do register for a new geographic region under this announcement you will not be able to change to another geographic region. If you are tentatively selected under a new region the new selection will overwrite any previous selection."

If you are applying for a new geo location then you can do so with no worries... as soon as you receive the new TO all of your completed steps carry over and the old TO is canceled automatically. I wouldn't advice doing this for the same geo as this will place you further down the line as EOD calls go out according to TO dates for that geo location.

                      • any advice on the new geographic locations? Anyone currently on have any idea about hiring for the Northeast or MidAtlantic regions? Do I stand a chance of getting a TO with a 96? I really do not want to go any port in the Northeast but Boston which is why I am considering the Mid Atlantic.

Or should I just go to where I am sure I can be hired...the Southwest border? Any advice would be appreciated.

                        • Thanks for the insight on the medical Yoda, that does make me feel a bit better, hopefully it will not be an issue but maybe if it is I'll have a chance to work it out with my own doctor and do some more physical therapy or something if I have to. In the meantime I'm stretching it out every day, who knows maybe in time I'll turn into something like that stretchy guy from Fantastic Four lol.

Unless you're getting close to 37 I'd say stay with the region you want, transfers are close to impossible to come by, and taking a spot just to "get your foot in the door" is not really the answer. As you can see there are current CBPO's that took that route and are now applying and willing to take pay cuts to go back to where they wanted be in the first place. In either case you're still looking at a 2-4 year wait for an EOD, so don't go for the place you don't want to if 2 years from now you're changing your region once again and losing your original TO date... inevitably adding those years back into the wait time.
That would be my $.02 on this, you do what you feel like is best for you...

                              • Uncorrected must be better than 20/200, which is the letter E at the top of the snellen chart.

Take it from someone who failed the eye portion and had to have surgery, which delayed my eligibility to EOD back in 08 ....still waiting by the way.
