You made a risky bid but it eventually paid off. I changed my location twice (initially applied for NE also) and I ended up at the SW border. There is pluses and minuses with changing locations. SW has more openings, that's a fact and is a more exciting professional experience, but if you get a position close to home you save lots of money that you would have paid for relocating.

        • It still says that my SSN and Applicant ID were not found in the database in CASS, anyone know why this could be?

          • Wow I shouldn't have never changed my location to Texas, El Paso. My first choice was Miami, FL!! This is so messed up!
Now I got the call for Texas

            • Hello everyone.

So, I just received my TO yesterday for SW California. I had a few questions that I hope you can answer.

              1) I worked at a job for less than two weeks before they let me go during the probationary period. (I was delivering parts, dropped a box spilling contents. Thinking I had picked everything up, I delivered the incomplete package. Whoops.) My question is, should I list this short stint on my employment history? Will it show up in my background investigation? Obviously, I would rather not put it on there, but if it is going to show up anyways on the BI, it is probably better to list it up front.

              2) What can anyone tell me about the nature of the job working in SW California? What to expect?

              3) What can I expect, in terms of timeline, now that I've received a TO? Am I still looking at a year or two of processing?

              Thank you all, good luck.

I suggest you read up on the thread as all of your questions have been addressed many times before...
Timeline right now for new apps, no matter where, is at 2 years.

2 years is long. Thank you for the response regarding timeline. I have read the first few hundred pages of this thread and could not find information regarding my first question regarding background investigation and my job situation. If you have any light to shed on this question, or if you could point me to the right page, it would be much appreciated.

Also, another question: Now that I know the timeline is probably around two years, would going to Korea to teach English for a year jeopardize my application status in any way?

                      Thanks once again.

Two years is probably optimistic...but who knows what next year's hiring holds.

Disclose the job. In fact, disclose everything you think your BI might find remotely interesting.

Would going to Korea for a year jeopardize your status...probably not, assuming you mean South Korea and not North Korea. It'll complicate things though; expect delays with your ultimate hiring.

Ya, the more that I think about it, the more I can see problems. Not just the fact that I will be spending large amounts of time in a foreign country, but the pure logistical complications of needing to be in the US for physical tests, interviews, etc. Unless I can get those done before I head out.

                          Hmm.

                          Thanks.

Thanks and congrats to you too! I tested in December and originally applied for the LA/LB area because I wanted to stay close to home but after only scoring a 79, I figured changing to the CA SWB would definitely help my chances of getting on but I too didn't expect it to come this soon! According everyones timelines it looks like we're in for a long wait but I'm just glad to be starting the process!
