  • Will a high Disablity rating affect hiring.. the Person thinks he will get put on medical hold and get
medically processed out or passed up..

This is an interesting point that hasnt been brought up much. I often thought to myself "well that great and all that diasbled vets get hiring priority, but how are they gonna pass the the med/phys?"

From what I have read it is up to 30% disabled, anything higher than that could become (in theory) a problem with performance on the job... so the question is could he/she be able to pass all the physical requirements or pre-employment and the academy, without it affecting performance down the line while on duty at his/her POE?

There are many Disabled vets That can pass the physical as well as the med its not that hard.. I know people with like 60+ rating in the fed agency i work at now..

I had a friend who passed the Medical and phsical but told them that he had bad back as well as surgery..
He was put on Medical hold..for months and never got into TSU needless to say he didnt get hired.

If he didnt disclose that info im pretty sure he wouldnt have been skiped and be hired already..

          • Has anyone from the West Coast received their NOR yet? It seems like yesterday only people from the East Coast received it.

              • For those who currently in CBP: The FLETC is "only" required for the CBPO and the BP positions, correct? Would a candidate still have to go through FLETC when applying for either an Import Specialist or Agriculture Specialist position (or any other position within CBP, such as a Management & Program Analyst or a Contract Specialist), or can a candidate with time-in-grade simply attempt to lateral?

You are asking about different jobs that have different requirements...
FLETC - Federal Law Enforcement Training Center
Even from within the same agency you would have to be trained to conduct the specific job you are going to, you can't just simply go "lateral" into it.

Yes they go to FLETC. However the BIST training is totally different from CBP OFO or OBP training.

                        • I think CASS is only for after you are tentatively selected, could be wrong though,

                          • Cass only works when you received the TO. And on the TO, it has your application ID number.

                              • I dont know but i have plenty of friends who got in at CBP under a years time starting with taking the test until they stepped foot in FLETC. If they need you then youll get in fast, if they dont need you they will give you the runaround like everything else in life.
