  • New to the thread. Not sure if I can search the thread or if I would have to read 500 pages to find the answers. First, who can tell me about day to day jobn functions working for CBP in a non-border state? How long is the hiring process? Is the polygraph a full lifestyle or just a national security type?

      • I remember that list, man it's been forever since I checked on this site. I never did get any call about the CBP for East TX. But now that the new posting is up I have something funny to share. I called to check whether anything could transfer if I reapplied for a new GEO. First they said no, I would need to re-do everything. But a co-worker told me that they talked to someone from TSU about the jobs, who told him that everyone from the prior postings already EOD'd and they are looking for new candidates. I had to show him the list you made because I thought that response was so comical.

Petey...I received the call for the poly last week for E. Texas. I was advised that if I cleared the poly, there was a good chance that an EOD date would follow.

                  • After reading the list of open locations, I'm increasingly frustrated. I tested back in 2008 and received my TO back in May of 2009. I selected the Saint Thomas, VI location... which is also listed in this 2010 announcement as having open positions. So, what the hell?? How can they say there are open positions and need to test more people for that location when I have been waiting for nearly 2 years for this location?????

Nice, keep me posted. I wonder how many people they are doing the poly on, it seems to be becoming more and more frequent for the CBPO position.

It should be 100% of the applicants, that's what the Agent that administered mine told me...

                        • Well I applied AGAIN to take the written test. I was just curious to see what they would say after my "failed" polygraph test in June. Gave them the info about the test date and it let me sign up again. I'm scheduled to take the written exam on Dec. 6 if they don't come back and tell me I'm not eligible to take it again. I want this job bad enough that I'm willing to go through the whole hiring process again. This time I applied for SW border(previously in L.A./Long Beach) in Texas. I already live down here so I figured why not? Let's see what happens this time. :-/

They threw out everyone in the pipeline who had not received a TO. They have to put people back into the pipeline to ensure enough applicants for when they start hiring again.
But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object, evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new guards for their future security.

For the intelectually challenged: If the government screws the people enough, it is the right and responsibility of the people to revolt and form a new government.

Technically there is one, but you'd be hard pressed to get it.

I guess that's good news and bad at the same time. If I get the final word I'll give it a shot. It would be worth the effort for me. I racked up a nice little debt going to school.
